Hi, I would like to create a website which can be administrated by NON IT user. Basically the requirement is similiar to www.zope.org where there are: -News -Events -Search -discussion -etc... So, my idea is to give the NON IT admin to update his/her website if there is any NEWS/EVENTS update. -Do you think, it is advisable to use CMF? CMF still appears complex to me as there isn't enough documentation to cover Look and Feel customization. can anyone suggest what is the good formula to develope zope.org kind of website? Multilanguility

Hi *, My website will be hosted by FreeZope. FreeZope is good: it's for free! But... I want my website to be available in multiple languages. I planned to use the Localizer-product for this purpose, but it is not supported by them. There is also no other language-product installed on FreeZope. So, the question is: How do I do this in a *structured* way? That is: without making separate pages for each language. Best regards, Yvon (yep, I'm a newbie)

How to add tab into manage_tabs for DTML Document?

Hi all, It is no problem to add new tab into manage_tabs for new ZClass type. But do you have an idea how to add new tab to the exist DTML Document, DTML Method and File types? I want to do it for ieeditor. Many thanks, J. Lukesh

Hi! I cannot recatalog a ZCatalog (an Squishdot instance) unless I delete the "path" pathIndex (wich I actually could do to solve this situation, but I'd like a better solution...;-) ) I get: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: attribute/method must be string And last lines in traceback: File /home/csmant/zope/2.5.1/lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/ZCatalog.py, line 480, in catalog_object (Object: News) File /home/csmant/zope/2.5.1/lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/Catalog.py, line 367, in catalogObject File /home/csmant/zope/2.5.1/lib/python/Products/PluginIndexes/PathIndex/PathIndex.py, line 118, in index_object (Object: path) I'm having this bug since I switched from a Zope 2.5.0 (updated to 2.5.1) to a new clean 2.5.1 installation. The problem now comes with Squishdot's ZCatalog, but some days ago I had the same problem in the same server with a non Squishdot ZCatalog. Could CatalogAwareProperties patch be interfering? error adding ST LDAP Manager object

hi, we are using LDAP User Folder connecting to openldap; adding an ST LDAP Manager instance fails with Error type: BIND_FAILURE Error value: Description: Failed to perform an anonymous bind to the LDAP server. Source: ldap.PROTOCOL_ERROR args: ({'desc': 'Protocol error', 'info': 'requested protocol version not allowed'},) To me it looks like an authentication prob; however, there´s no option to pass any credentials; Ithought ST LDAP Manager would use the LDAP User Folder´s acquired credentials. Zope and OSX 10.2

Has anyone had luck getting Zope running with MacOSX 10.2? I had it running under 10.1, but with 10.2, I cannot get it to compile. I tried using the included Python 2.2, but it does not include the Makefile.pre.in file for Python. I then tried to compile Python 2.2.1 for 10.2, but it has problems compiling the _socket module, apparently because of 10.2's IP6 support. The rest of the python distribution compiles and runs, but even with it I cannot make the latest Zope release due to an error in the "Makefile.pre.in" file. zeo : installing and configuring

Hi, I'm trying to install ZEO. Initially, I'd like to run ZEO on the same server that I'm running Zope. I installed Zope and ZEO and placed a custom_zodb.py in the Zope directory, but it is not getting accessed when Zope starts. If I stop ZEO, Zope still runs, so I must not be doing something right. I can't pinpoint what I'm doing wrong, though, since I've never used ZEO before and I'm just learning it. I've appended to this message fairly detailed instructions I've used to install Zope and ZEO. Can anybody see anything obviously goofy about what I'm doing or give me other hints on things to try doing differently? Thanks, // mark Installing Zope via RPM I'm trying to install Zope from RPMs based on these instructions: http://www.zope.org/Members/dingo/Zope_RPMS All of these commands are performed as a normal user--those commands prefixed by sudo run as root and require configuring /etc/sudoers. I started with a relatively clean vanilla Red Hat 7.3 install. The only package I selected during installation of 7.3 were KDE and Windows File Server. In addition, I've installed the Courier mail server on this server. 1. I tried to download the Python RPMs for Python 2.1.3: http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.1.3/rpms/rh7.2/python2.1-2.1.3-1.i386.rpm http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.1.3/rpms/rh7.2/python2.1-devel-2.1.3-1.i3 86.rpm I was worried that the RPMs for Python 2.1.3 would conflict with Red Hat 7.3's Python 2, but they fail dependency checking: $ rpm -Uvh --test python2.1-2.1.3-1.i386.rpm error: failed dependencies: libdb-3.2.so is needed by python2.1-2.1.3-1 so I decided to build my own RPMs for Python 2.1.3 on Red Hat 7.3 from the source RPM for Python 2.1.3. 2. Build the Python 2.1.3 RPMs from the SRPM. Install Zope (see above). 2. Make sure it's not running: $ sudo /sbin/service zope stop 3. Download ZEO to /var/tmp: http://www.zope.org/Products/ZEO/ZEO-2.0b1.tar.gz 4. Unpack the tarball: $ cd /var/tmp $ tar -zxvf ZEO-2.0b1.tar.gz 5. Run the unit tests. The ZEO/docs/ZopeREADME.txt says: "You can test ZEO before installing it with the test script." I think what this means is that you can test it after you build it but before you install it (python setup.py build)--however, that's not clear. So, first, build ZEO (from the installation directory created in step 4): $ python2.1 setup.py build NOTE: Use of python 2.1 since that's the Python used by Zope. Try to access Zope: http://localhost:8080/manage Still works. Therefore, we must not be running ZEO. :( 13. Make sure Zope is reading custom_zodb.py: $ sudo /sbin/service zope stop $ ls -l --time=atime /usr/share/zope/custom_zodb.py $ sudo /sbin/service zope start $ ls -l --time=atime /usr/share/zope/custom_zodb.py The time didn't change. So Zope must not be reading custom_zodb.py. -

Z SQL Methods

How does one execute several SQL statements in one Z SQL Method object? The Zope Help screens assure me that this is possible, but neither this or the Zope Book actually say how. (I do not want to return any results, since these are insert queries anyway.) David
