Hi, Till now I did everything with dtml, external python scripts, python scripts and zclasses. Gradualy I want to switch over to pagetemplates and external python products. The first thing I want to do is converting the dtml to pagetemplates in the actual sites. These sites are based on a lot of Zclasses. For instance: <dtml-with batest> <dtml-var index_html> </dtml-with> Where batest is an instance of a basic element of our content management system. After reading zpt docs (Zopebook and docs on devshed), searching in the mailing list archives I came to the following equivalent: <tr><td tal:define="batest here/batest" tal:content="batest/index_html"></td></tr> This only works in the way that it can find the index_html method (dtml) in the Zclass batest is an instance of. It won't render (it won't find) the other dtml-methods or any other object in the Zclass wich the index_html calls. So how do I do a 'dtml-with' in tal? Somebody asked the same question a couple of months ago but I couldn't find an answer in the mailing list archives. Regards, Henny van der Linde

newbie unicode question

Dear zope-gurus, I presume this is FAQ, but I cannot figure out how to display unicode messages in Zope. I would like our Zope site to be available in English, German, and Spanish, and I've been using localizer 0.8 to this end. Most everything seems to work fine, but instead of unicode characters the "?" character is displayed. My ZPT headers do include:" content="text/html;charset=utf-8"", but that doesn't seem to solve the problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Hi Larry, I have IIS & Plone integrated. When I did it, the plone login_form login did not work for me either. BUT, when I turned off ~"Anonymous Login" in IIS and IIS produces the 401-Auth or Windows Challenge pop-up login, the userid & password sent through IIS would login the plone user. Once IIS is involved, Plone looks for the (in ASP) Request.ServerVariables('AUTH_USER') (I wasn't able to find how/where it gets this info into Plone -- wish I did). Once users were logged in ... they could Never be logged out w/o closing the browser. i know that didn't answer all your questions, but it's some info that is closely related. good luck! -----Original Message----- From: Larry J. stuck on accessing ZSQL methods across folder hierary

I'm stuck trying to do something fairly basic with DTML: access an SQL method called previewsStagingList that is somewhere else in the folder hierarchy. I've tried numerous variant possibilities, such as <dtml-in kc/bizlogic/product/diamond/previewsStagingList> or <dtml-in kc.bizlogic.product.diamond.previewsStagingList> or <dtml-in "../bizlogic/product/diamond/previewsStagingList"> or <dtml-in expr = "kc.bizlogic.product.diamond.previewsStagingList"> (I think expr is just for Python scripts, according to the documentation I've seen, but I thought this worth a try.) You get the idea. I've searched around for documentation on how to do this, and the closest thing I came up with was to use dtml-with, but had no luck with that either since dtml-with doesn't seem to accept any kind of folder paths. I tried nesting several dtml-with documents, which parsed ok but still didn't allow me to access the previewsStagingList ZSQL method. I'm stuck. Please help! Thanks!

DMTL-IF: Listing Documents that contain queryword

I manually set Document Properties for files that I want to list in groups. Each Document has a Property "category"; to get Category One docs, I use <dtml-in "my_documents.objectValues()"> <dtml-if "category=='Category One'"> <dtml-comment>List Documents</dtml-comment> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> Since Documents already have the word I need in dtml-var Title (Category One: Whatever Title), I'd like to use a Web form to pass the query string and get rid of having to manually set Properties for each Document. I'd like to list any Document that contains string "query", like: "select Documents where <dtml-var title> like queryword" Can someone help me with this? If possible, I'd like to accomplish this in Zope without external scripts programming languages. Env: Zope 2.5.x, Python 2.2.x Thanks Sean

ZCTextIndex - prefix wildcards not supported?

Why are wildcards '?' and '*' not supported at the beginning of search terms in ZCTextIndex? It would be very useful to search for terms using '*someterm'. In the cvs for ZCTextIndex, Lexicon.py (http://cvs.zope.org/Products/ZCTextIndex/Lexicon.py?annotate=1.17.10.2) the code raises an exception for wildcards at the beginning of search terms (see line 113) and a related comment says" 111 # The pattern starts with a globbing character. 112 # This is too efficient, so we raise an exception. Why is this 'too efficient"? Jonathan

I think by the wording "depreciated" it means that no further development would happen with DTML and it seems as though eventually DTML support would be dropped in favor of having a more efficient TAL syntax. So, is that the case? Is DTML no longer supported? Any plans to drop it from Zope? I could look in the directory and see that my __init__.pyc file was being created so I knew Zope was looking at it but it didn't seem to do anything with it. After working on it for most of the day, I finally found the problem. Thanks for your replies, the original reason I asked is that we are having stability issues with Zope. I have tried it without the demon process, but that doesn't appear to help. I then reenabled the demon process and changed the thread count to 500 (I've only just discovered all those options after looking in z2.py!). This leads me to my next question: Now the server stays up and running, but the demon manager seems to be continually killing and restarting the processes. I'm running it with the -D option as well and this is the error message line it spits out as it restarts: 2003-11-21T13:13:11 ERROR(200) zdaemon Process 25703 terminated by signal SIGKILL(9) Any ideas of what could be causing this?
