Dynamic script loading

Hello, I don't know if my question is more zopish or pythonish. I have a Zope product. I had to add the specific functionality which is needed very rarely. I would be glad to import external module only when it is needed, do the job and free my mind and extra memory it consumed. How should I do that? I have to admit that I don't find myself as an experienced Python programmer. I just discover depths of this incredible language while extending my Zope product. CVS/Subversion for Zope sites

I am beginning to see some management and versioning problems with our Zope sites. My normal reaction would be to put everything under source code control (CVS or Subversion). We currently use CVS through a home grown Zope interface to manage some of our content, but the sites themselves remain monolithic Zopes with versions managed by ZSyncer and a home grown tool site management tool. The question/problem is "what goes into the source code control system?" And how do I manage moving the various components from Zope to the source code control system, and vice versa? Not all Zope objects transport neatly to the local file system space. Moreover, I'm not sure how things like local roles and security settings are encapsulated for import/export in such a context. Can anyone assist with war stories and the like?

HOWTO restart Zope

I had to search a bit to find this, so thought I would post it here to help other newbies like me. To restart Zope (on Linux, SuSE 9): $ /etc/init.d/zope restart To find other arguments accepted by /etc/init.d/zope command, do: $ less /etc/init.d/zope and look see. Would it be worth putting a note about /etc/init.d/zope samewhere in the beginning of the Zope docs or FAQs? Hope this helps other newbies like myself. Roger :-)

Hello, on zope.org the list of Zope powered sites is automatically compiled from all links with the keyword "Powered by Zope". On zope.se I would like to include a similar feature, but I can not filter links on the keywords. Do I have to change the catalog or what else is it I miss? Maybe the code from Zope.org is available? manage_addPageTemplate path

How would I go about using manage_addPageTemplate to add a template in a directory other than the one the script is called in? For example, my folder tree looks like this: Root Folder1 (Public access) Folder2 (Private, secured access) acl_users addpageform (Page Template which is my form) addpage (Script Python) Once someone authenticates in Folder 2 and submits the addpage form to the Python script, I want the script to add a PageTemplate to Folder1 I've already got the file adding part, I just need to know how to modify the path. code: item = context.manage_addProduct['PageTemplates'].manage_addPageTemplate(id, text="blah", title="my title") Creates a new PageTemplate with the ID I specified in Folder1. I think I'm a little confused as to whether this template thats created is part of the file system, or the ZopeDB--a regular ol' "../Folder1/" + id didn't seem to work for an ID. Any help is appreciated. I've looked through the ZopePageTemplate.py file, it doesn't seem as there is an option to specify a different path (admittedly, I'm new to this and I may not be looking in the right place).

Hello jcc, Deleting Data.fs*, restarting zope and running zpasswd.py again solved the problem. I think this is an issue with SuSE 9.0, because this happened in 2 different installations.... Zope and Paths

Hi guys, I'd like to know if I can solve a simple problem: I'd like to manage path like that: www.site.com/Articles/32042 as www.site.com/Articles/ViewArticle?id=32042 How can I do it?? My method "ViewArticle" is inside the Article folder. There is an easy way to do it?? My articles are loaded form a Database, so I can't create, for every article, a new Document (called with his ID) for displaing it. tnx a lot, bye
