shifted zope on port 80 but ZMI/site is not coming

Hello list, Always thankfull to the list for help. :) NOw problem is .. I was running zope on 8080 and was using VHM , At that time my site was accessable by www.name.com:8080 Then i shifted zope on port 80 and started it on the same port, with a hope that i will be able to access my site by www.name.com. But after starting zope on port 80 , i am unable to even access ZMI . Zope is running as per /var/log/zope.debug.log. what can be the problem. If i try to access ZMI now by both http://www.name.com/manage OR http://IP:80/manage, browser gives me time out error. Waiting for response. Unicode ZPT and XML woes

So I'm trying to write an XML RSS feed using Page Templates. I'm having problems where I pull metadata out of a catalog, and try to use it as the item title for the feed -- ... <item tal:repeat="item python: here.search.news_catalog({'post_date': [here.ZopeTime()-1, here.ZopeTime()], 'post_date_usage': 'range:min:max', 'sort_on':'post_date', 'sort_order':'reverse'})"> <title tal:content="item/head"> Title Here </title> ... </item> -- I get Error Type: UnicodeError Error Value: ASCII decoding error: ordinal not in range(128) It seems that I'm getting trapped in unicode hell, as that item/head is in ascii, and the ZPT is in unicode? I've tried every combination of encoding the head string (tuf8, utf16, ascii) with either replace or ignore, with no luck. Aside from re-implenting the stream as a DTML or Python script what can I do? I've already also tried the "LOCALIZER_USE_ZOPE_UNICODE=yes" suggestion from the list archives. -jim

Zope in SuSE 9.0

Hello, I just installed Zope in a SuSE 9.0 box. The docs said that the initial user and password are superuser/123. But thid did not work. I tried to change with zpasswd script, but this did not work also. Any ideas ?? Thanks, Parra

Help with VHM and Apache

I've been trying to get Zope setup with Apache. I continually read that I need to add a VirtualHostMonster in order to accomplish my objective. However, I cannot find where to download this object, and the how-to seem to indicate that this file is included with Zope. Could anyone shed some light on this? Ape 0.7 - prob. installing

I'm no doubt missing something silly, but Ape 0.6 worked and now 0.7 is giving me troubles. Here's the specifics: Zope 2.6.2b4 on RH Linux 9. I have Ape 0.7 and DBTab 1.2 installed. and actually, Zope starts up fine if I remove the DBTab.conf and custom_zodb.py files from my instance root. I created the file my_extensions.py in the Extensions directory and cut/pasted the Giraffes class code (preserving indentation). I then created a Giraffes folder and attempted to add the External Method named 'giraffes' as described in the docs. Every time I hit the Add button after filling in the External Method fields I get a "HTTP 500 - Internal server error" message. I'm using Zope 2.6.1 on WinME and the browser is IE6. Internal server error adding External Method

I then created a Giraffes folder and attempted to add the External Method named 'giraffes' as described in the docs.
