Export with Zope-Roles

Hi, my situation: I have a Folder - Folder1 - which has all needed rights for users with roles role1 and all needed rights for users with role2. In Folder1 there exist two Folders: Folder2 and Folder3 that only have rights for role1 OR role2 (rights are not aquired from Folder1...) If I try to export Folder1 as a user with role1 OR role2 the export contains both folders, Folder2 and Folder3 (but I do not have access to both folders ...). --------------------------------------- Folder1 (Role1 AND Role2) | |-Folder2 (Role1, NOT Role2) | |-Folder3 (Role2, NOT Role1) ---------------------------------------- Does that mean that if I have the "export"-right in a special folder I am allowed to export all inner folders with that folder? Or did I do something wrong? Is there a possibility to export just those Objects in a Folder for which I have the "export"-right, or will I have to write something on my own ...? -- Thanks, Holger

Thanks to those who have given it a quick glance, I appreciate it. I absolutely want to use as much as I can off the shelf, the less coding and modification I have to do the better! I was looking at the plone user manual and a lot of the features in there didn't seem to be that relevant, but certainly some of the features in CMF could be built upon. The really important bit of the application is the workflow bit - getting a course from business case stage to release, to being withdrawn. If my understanding is correct Dcworkflow is an object based workflow solution, whereas I am looking for a process based solution. I found openflow which is processed based, this seems to fit our requirements better. The course (online) will never be directly part of this system, just all of the meta information about it. At points in the process we know more information about the course (duration, description, name, planned live date and documents such as business case, invitation to tender etc) and this information would get inputted to a RDBMS (probably mySQL). So basically each stage of the process will have a number of form fields that need to be filled in , or documents uploaded by a number of users to advance to the next stage of the process. The thing that worries me about openflow is how easy it would be to change the process. I've not heard of Archetypes, I will take a look and see what that does. We are also looking at proprietary business process management/change management tools (e-work and infra) as an alternative to an oss solution. I didn't do any detailed analysis, but on first glance, yes. Not only that, more of this solution may be available off-the-shelf than you realize. Take a long, careful look at Plone and Archetypes before you go messing with CMF yourself. I'd bet Plone already does 90% of what you want and Archetypes can pick up most of the rest. HTH, Dylan

Could I build this application with zope?

Thanks to those who gave useful replies to my earlier post. I am still looking into using zope for my project. It looks like the CMF could provide a number of the features that I am looking for and that a number of others would have to be custom developed. Is it a realitively straight-forward process to develop custom functionality? Follows is a brief synopsis of the functionality that I am looking for, for this project, I would appreciate if anyone could take a quick look and let me know if zope may be suitable. Thanks, John We require a software solution to: 1. control and manage the course development process and to enable communication between all internal teams and individuals concerned with the product 2. act as a central data repository and management tool for all key product information both pre and post product release. What functions are required of the system? The process * The system will prompt users to input information at key stages in the process. At each stage different groups of users will be required to enter data and/or upload documents. * The system will identify accountable and responsible persons for each stage in the process. * A limited (less than 6) set of stages will need to be user-defined for each product passing through the process, the system will need to suggest default stages common to most projects. In addition to these stages there are 7 mandatory stages that all products must pass through. * The data that is inputted to the system will need to be visible and available to user groups based on their permissions. * As part of the development process there is a requirement for external developers to input data into the system which will need to be verified by a Ufi employee. * A course can be one of four different types, each will have a differing development process. Course Tracking Reports * Users must be able to produce their own reports based on sets of courses and the stages that the courses are at in the development process. * Previously run tracking reports can be saved for future use without having to enter the criteria again. * Tracking reports can be downloaded in a format that can be read by MS Excel. Alerting * Users will be able to subscribe themselves to email alerts which are triggered by certain system events that will include: o Certain courses moving on a stage in the process o Changes of data relating to products Qualitfications * The system will be able to capture the relationship between qualifications and learndirect products * Qualifications and their associated assessments and units will be inputted into the system will need to be associated to products at the unit level Searching * Users will be able to perform a free-text search for a course. The user will be able to specify which fields they want to search on. Data exporting * Ufi has a number of systems that will require exports of some of the data that will be held in CK2. The system will be able to generate these exports in an XML format. I have bought the Zope Bible by Michael R . Browser-Check with getBrowser(): set global var for request or call it in every html-page

Hi, i want to load different css for mozilla an explorer and found the nice function getBrowser() on zope.org. But know I don't know, what is possible or the better way to use it. 1.) my idea is to call it from my index.html and set a cookie or if possible a global var in zope for the request and use <dtml-if> for loading the css 2.) i use it to create the right css in a python script 3.) i call it in every html-header over <dtml-let> and use <dtml-if> for loading the right css what is the best to fit to zope? In short: Yes, I believe so. Some of the requirements sound like a matter of using DCWorkflow and creating your own custom Product (which is fairly easy as there's a good tutorial on ZOPE). Set up your permissions properly, customize some of the templates, use topics to organize and associate some of the information together (or some other "folderish" type object). There's information I think on ZOPElabs.com about notifying users via e-mail on content state change. Use the parsedXML product to produce your XML output. Enable discussions or use CMFBoard or maybe even a Wiki for collaboration on tasks. Create a template for gathering reporting criteria and a template for displaying that criteria and a python script for creating an object out of the report so that it can be reused. Use the right format and Excel will be able to read it, or I believe theres a product for producing excel or CSV content for excel to read.
