Can # of query results returned be limited?

I am trying to build a dtml method that will allow me to graphically change the sort order of some objects. The objects I want to sort are Content objects, with an integer property of SortOrder. This is what I have so far: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <form> <table> <tr> <td rowspan=2> <select size="10" height="100" multiple name="order"> <dtml-in sort> <option value=<dtml-var id>><dtml-var id></option> </dtml-in> </select> </td> <td> <input type="button" value="Up" /> </td> <tr> <td> <input type="button" value="down"> </td> </tr> </table> </form> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> The sort python script returns a list of all the Content objects sorted by SortOrder. Newbie question - Editing content and workflow

Hi All, I'm new to Zope and this list. I have bought "The Zope book" and installed it etc. and think it's a great dev environment. A few questions I would like to ask please? 1) How do you accommodate for users maintaing their content who have little or none HTML experience? I have seen HTMLArea (http://www.interactivetools.com/products/htmlarea/) has anyone used this with Zope? Or is there a product that people use or recommend? 2) What the best way for maintaining workflow? 3) Is there a newbies zope list as this list seems geared to the more experienced user? CMF getMemberById and local roles

Hi there, I created a role called Administrator - for "power" users with not quite all the rights as a Manager. I assign this role locally to a user. In the root folder's security I mark that Administrator must have the right "Manage Portal" - this is needed by the portal_membership.getMemberById method. A quick peek in DocFinderEverywhere shows now that both Manager and Administrator can access getMemberById. Well, it doesn't work that way :(. I get the following error: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access getMemberById in this context When stepping through the Python script that calls this, I can check the following: context.portal_membership.checkPermission('Manage Portal',context) this returns 0, thus saying that I don't have this permission. What am I doing wrong? I can't assign a proxy role to the script as it is a script in a skin folder - scripts in skin folders can't be assigned proxy roles until the next CMF version. I can't wait until the next CMF version! ANY help would be appreciated! Thanks Etienne Labuschagne

i have problems installing Zope 2.6.1

i downloaded ZOPE 2.6.1 (src release) and made these steps : python wo-pcgi.py (and i noted the user name and password) then i added in the start file one more option (-P 8001) in order to run ZOPE on the web port 8081. then when i am running : ./start i have this error : /usr/local/Zope2/z2.py:378: UserWarning: You are running Python version 2.1.1. VHF Broken after upgrade to 2.6.1

OS: FreeBSD 4.7 Stable okay I just upgraded to 2.6.1 and moved the database over to the new Zope var dir and the the object from the VHF product is broken. What are the steps to fix this - can you point me to specific documentation please? - Noah -- Net Enabled (http://www.enabled.com)

Accessing parent's methods/attrs from a child object

I have a container objectManager called 'Vehicle'. 'Repair', which is a simpleItem, is stored inside a Vehicle instance. When a Repair is created or edited, it should update the containing Vehicle's odometer reading by calling updateOdometer(newreading) on the Vehicle it is belongs to. permissions issues with a CVS interface

I have built a special purpose interface into CVS (none of the existing Zope products had the right capabilities) and have gotten it all working but for the commit. The commit dies on a permissions problem. The solution, according to the cvs documentation, is to have all users, including zope, be members of a 'cvs' group and set the umask and permissions appropriately. I have done just that but have run into a problem. Zope runs as nobody.nobody but when doing cvs tasks it needs to run as nobody.cvs at least for those functions that modify the repository. That means that I need to change group for those cvs commands that modify the repository which is in the local file system and not exposed to Zope directly. I also have to take care to ensure that the group change is local and does not effect the rest of the running Zope system. It's not clear how to make things work. The Python commands that manage groups follow the Unix convention and are are limited to processes with root privileges. I see a couple of possibilities--perhaps the simplest is to make the 'nobody' group the CVS group. CVS explicitly disallows commits by root, but does not appear to disallow commits by 'nobody'. Alternatively, I could always spawn a suid process that performs the CVS task--but that seems overkill and a potential security hole. There must be a better way. Comments? Help?

Progress information for long running process

Hi All, Could someone help with this problem: I have a long running process performed with an external method. Long means > 30 min. At the and I'm giving back HTML code to the calling object. What I need now is same sort of progress information on the web page (e.g. Processing step 50 out of 100). Has anyone an idea how to do this? Thanks a lot! -- Eddie.

Problem with Python ZClass properties
