what happens when I click restart...

Folks, What hapeens when I click Restart button from /Control_Panel of ZMI? Does the stop and start scripts in the zope directory (of server) get executed? I have been doing ./stop and ./start "by hand" and I'd like to know if a single click on Restart button will do the same thing. I am on zope mailing list, but a digest version. FTP Access

As previously discussed, I had initial problems setting up users with FTP since they did not have access to the root of the Zope server (being defined in a LDAP User Folder somewhere down the tree). The inability to create subfolder in their space was the primary symptom, and was resolved by granting FTP Access to Anonymous at the root. However, this has a side effect. You can now log into the server with ANY username and password and see files. You cannot change the files unless you've provided a proper username and password, of course. This is pretty confusing when you mistype your password - everything seems fine until you try to upload something. At that time you get an "Unauthorized" message. There is no indicator that you've just mistyped your password. It seems fairly straightforward that the FTP server is allowing any l/p, and granting "anonymous" access. I'd really like to stop this behavior, and between you and me I think this behavior is aberrant. I thought - perhaps - granting FTP Access to Authenticated at the root of Zope would be a solution, but does not solve the first problem (discussed above). Any thoughts? Edward

I am looking for a rich-text WYSIWYG editor that easily integrates with Zope or CMF. The editor should support the editing of HTML and/or XML documents. Any recommendation? Dreamweaver or FrontPage templates

Does someone have some experience integrating Dreamweaver or FrontPage templates into Zope or CMF? The idea is that a Dreamweaver or FrontPage template would be "recognized" and processed by Zope or CMF in order to present a nice UI to the content author. I wrote an EditAddon that hooks into the ZMI and gives you the ability to edit PageTemplates WYSIWYG. I am not sure if this is a good Idea since the HTML looks ugly afterwards.... Sendmail tag and port number

Hi, everybody! I have a variable containing port for sendmail tag, say 'port_value'. How should I write it in the <dtml-sendmail>? The variant <dtml-sendmail smtphost="1.1.1.1" port=port_value> when pressing 'Save changes' tells that system can not convert value to int. Are any chances to do it? Thanks, Alexander Klimovich

anonymous writes to index_html

I have discovered that something is writing to my index_html method on my zope server. When I click undo there is a long list of anonymous transactions at random times. These are filling up my zope database. Could anyone advise me as to what kind of objects etc could be causing this behaviour as so far I am at a loss? Thanks Mark Stangroom

Problem with Python Win32 Extensions

Hi! I am making some changes to the LocalFS product, in windows. The problem is that I need to read the security permissions of a file. I have found a piece of code in the Python Win32 Extensions to do so (you can see it at the end of the message). The problem is that the piece of code works properly if I run it in ActivePython or in Python+Python Win32 Extensions, but not if I run it in the Python version that comes with Zope. Doesn't Zope's Python include Python Win32 Extensions. I think it does, as the win32security module for example is there, but then why doesn't the code work? Any help will be appreciated. ZPT/DTML namespace problem

Hi, I have a ZClass instance "Log" with a DTML (!) method "show_entries" in its class. "Log" lies in ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /path/to/Log ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I also have a folder with an interface in it, one of its pages is ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /interface/showLog ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, if "showLog" was a DTML method, I could fill it with ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <dtml-with "path.to.Log"><dtml-var show_entries></dtml-with> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But (of course :-)) I want "showLog" to be a ZPT. Now my problem: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <span tal:define="Log root/path/to/Log" tal:replace="Log/show_entries">The log entries of Log</span> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- won't work as (I) expected. Apparently - although I say "Log/show_entries", the ZPT passes "here" as the client to "show_entries". Of course that doesn't make sense: there are no log entries in "/interface/showLog". Why is "here" passed although I explicitly say "Log/show_entries"? How can I solve this problem??? I tried ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- tal:replace="python:Log.show_entries(Log, request)" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- but this looks somewhat stupid. Do I really have to explicitly pass a client and namespace to a DTML method, isn't there something like <dtml-with>?
