Disable inheriting from a class

Hello, How do I set a custom class (product) so that it is locked against inheriting? I mean, if I'm creating another custom product (ZClass), ZOPE allows me to import so-called Base Classes. I need to get my class off of the list, for some compatibilty and conflict issues. I did search for answer to this in documentation an on the web, but I didn't find any useful hints. manage_edit or manage_upload help

Hi, I have created a file object from the OFSP product using manage_addFile. This works great. Now I am creating a form to edit the contents of the file. On submitting this form, I want the file data to be updated with what was there in the textarea of the form. Seems simple, and I tried to use manage_edit or manage_upload from my python script. I am unsuccessful in doing this and get Attribute Errors. I would appreciate it if someone could send some example code to help me update the contents of a file object. Thanks Ravneet

I got it working! Thanks for the prompt replies. I have to say that while the documentation for Zope can be -er - challenging, the quick response from the community is great to see. The problem was not having the proxy modules loaded. It would appear that Apache 2 has a more elaborate scheme for proxy modules, and the tutorial at www.zope.org/Members/ike/Apache2_freeBSD also helped, by alerting me to the proxy module loading order. This is what I added to the bottom of the LoadModule sequence: LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so LoadModule proxy_connect_module modules/mod_proxy_connect.so LoadModule proxy_ftp_module modules/mod_proxy_ftp.so LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so Eventually, my virtual host set up looked like this: NameVirtualHost 10.1.3.225 <VirtualHost 10.1.3.225> ServerName www.dantest.com ServerAlias dantest.com DocumentRoot /var/www/html RewriteEngine On RewriteLog /dan/rwLog2.txt #RewriteLogLevel 9 #RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^/(.*) RewriteRule /Zope/(.*) http://10.1.3.225:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/%{HTTP_HOST}:80/dantest/$1 [L,P] </VirtualHost> The road ahead is clear.... Slight OT: My Zope is now powered by Linux

Hi all, I was get last week from my chief separate machine to run Zope. Before Zope runs at Win2k Terminal server, dual Xeon 1Ghz, 1GB RAM, SCSI disks, intel server board. Now Zope runs from Linux Mandrake 9.1, Celeron 950MHz, 128MB RAM, one IDE disk with journaling XFS filesystem, intel non-server board with 3com netcard. Performance boost what I was get is 2-100 times better than from Windows machine. 2 times is for cataloging (text index), about 10x boost is for page rendering (DTML, STX) and about 100x better is for giving small images (buttons, 90-400 bytes size). Zope at Windows I was able to crash with 50 concurrent requests in time 2-3 minutes. Zope at Linux I was not able to make crash (with 3com netcard of course, with onboard intel it crash whole system!) - I was crash my local machine (win32, 300 concurrent requests) from where I was cyclically mirror my zope webs. So I was wery happy, my Zope runs as never before. Regards JL.

restrcting zope to a single processor on Solaris8 machine

Hi folks, I am running zope on Solaris 8 (sparc, SF4800, 4 processor) machine. Recently, a major app was taken off this machine and I started to experience problems. The problem is that response time is exceedingly and unbearably slow. Having read a thing or two, I suspect this is to do with Global Interpreter Lock of python not being able to use multiple cpu's. I am trying to use psrset command to fix the problem, but so far unsuccessful. What I have done is to write a one-line shell script that says psrset -e 1 Path-to-Zope-Directory/start where 1 is a processor_set_id (created via "psrset -c" command) and this set uses strictly one processor. But the start script cannot finish execution. It complains as to permission denied for var/Z2.pid file.

I looked at those number after a restart and they now look like: Total number of objects in the database: 10585 Total number of objects in all caches: 355 Target Size: 400 Target max time between accesses: 60 I didn't know that top two numbers were dynamic. Since the balance has changed, I'd like to leave them alone for now. If you have the default 4 threads (and assuming you are not using versions) then it is interesting to note that 2294 is much bigger than 4*400 That indicates you have memory pressure. This might be the cause of your problem. Greetings folks, I am having a problem with my zope, which runs on Sparc Solaris 8 (4 cpu multi-processor) machine: Zope Version: (Zope 2.5.1 (binary release, python 2.1, solaris-2.6-sparc), python 2.1.3, sunos5) Python Version: 2.1.3 (#1, Apr 15 2002, 12:32:48) [GCC 2.8.1] System Platform: sunos5 It is exceedingly slow and the slowness is unbearable. It started about the same time when a big app was taken off this machine and I am suspecting that python Global Interpreter Lock is not agreeable in multi-cpu environment. I read a thing or two off zope.org and decided to use "psrset" command to restrict all subprocesses to one cpu. Hardly anything is straight forward and I am running into troubles. I hand executed this command: psrset -b 1 ./start where 1 is the id returned from "psrset -c" command and start is the zope start-up script I have always used (pretty much unmodified as distribution except the port number to run on). It complains as to I am not the owner of the processor-set 1. So now I did the same as root. problem with catalog and VHM

Hi, I'm having trouble with the apache RewriteRule. I'm using Zope 2.6.0 on a SuSE linux and the following RewriteRule works perfect with the site I developed. RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8070/VirtualHostBase/https/foo.bar:443/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [L,P] The problem ist, that the folder in which the site is contained in is called /brk and I don't want to access the site via foo.bar/brk. Therefore I changed the RewriteRule into [...]/VirtualHostBase/https/foo.bar:443/brk/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [L,P] This seemed to work until I discovered that parts of the site (which use a catalog that is contained in the /brk folder named brkCatalog) don't work anymore.
