I have not "request" within the macro, the only request/ object is up there in the ZPT. Another question: Is it possible to call python methods from ZPT, which are defined in a python script? I have several scripts and would like to hold them in 1 script-Object in Zope, as they all belong to the login-process. tal tutorial/cookbook

I'm looking for a decent guide to ZPT, in particular TAL statements. I learn best from examples, so a cookbook might be ideal. Everything I've seen in the stores appears to add this on to the end of a DTML explanation, perhaps because that was established first? Any help would be appreciated. John -

Newbie: ODBC problems

Feeling pretty silly here...Searched everything I could before I posted this, but... I am unable to create a ODBC Connection. I fill out the id, the title, and the connection string, but if I have the box checked that says to open connection immediately, I get a 400 Page not found error. It does create the object. I can go to it and it will say the connection is closed. I can go to the properties and change the settings, but whenever I try to open the connection I get the 400 error. Am I missing something? I need help with site planning

Hello, my new project will be a site for real time reports. Data from a database needs to be displayed on the fly. So far I have no problem, but the data can be accessed through several domains, and each one should have it's own design. We have a role based login system, but the access rights for every role need to be diffrent depending on the domain. (Role A from domain1 can see the report, role A from domain2 can't.) Which Zope modules would you use to build the site? CMF, Plone, ... How would you realize the AccessRights system? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks Ulrich

how is a method aquired?

Hello, I have two folders /sub1 /sub2 and three dtml-methods /msg (prints "msg in root folder") /sub1/msg (prints "msg in sub1 folder") /sub2/test (&dtml-msg;) when I access my test method it prints "msg in root folder" when I use these URLs http://domain/sub2/test http://domain/sub1/sub2/test why isn't the msg method from sub1 called when using the second URL? Thanks! I actually have the Zope book right in front of me but that didn't pop out. Now that I created it as a text index it seems to work fine. how to avoid a redirect ?

or better how to finish a transaction programmaticaly ? I have a form, which list object and a checkbox beside each line, where I can mark objects for deletion. The delete-method deletes the checked objects but when I just do a return context.listForm() in my delete-method, the deleted objects still show up, only after a reload of the form they are really gone. if I do a return context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(context.REQUEST.get("HTTP_REFERER")) the list is directly refreshed. I assume, that's because the transaction is not finished in the first case. Thanks Troy. I wasn't clear in my earlier email... I know how to get at the attribute/method of an object if I know what it's name is. By using someobj.attributename or someobj.methodname() (or using 'getattr(....)'). But how do I enumerate all attributes & methods associated with an object when I don't know the structure of the object (i.e., as if I was exploring the object in a debugger)? I've been using Dieter Maurer's DocFinderEverywhere extensively to get info on generic objects returned by Zope (thanks Dieter, very helpful product, especially for beginners), but obviously it has it's limitations. Newbie Question: First browsing no response

Hello, I'm new to Zope, I downloaded Zope and installed on my RedHat 9.0 machine. I ran "install" and "start" with no problem. However when I try my initial browsing both to localhost on the same machine, or from a remote machine, the browser sits there indefinitely. Sometimes it draws the frame borders, and once it put up some of the navigator frame, but it won't complete retrieving the rest of the first page. I get the same results with both Mozilla and Internet Explorer. I made sure Apache was disabled before installing and starting Zope. Can anyone help? I tried searching archives of this group, but my queries are too vague to nail down if I'm having a common problem. Thanks, Warren Chambliss
