can't start zope after upgrade Please help !!

Hi, I use zope with a Debian testing/sarge. The last running version of zope was 2.6.1-4. The last upgrade proposed was 2.6.1-7 . The post-install script of zope didn't work and the install process failed, but I tried to end the install process by hand... The other packages of the server are up to date. This new version of the zope package changes the location of apps, so I created a new instance (zopectl create), moved the data files to the new location /var/lib/zope/instance/default/var/ , restarted the server. The zope server seems to be running : the port 9173 is open and listening, and I can see the connection with netstat -ap when I try to connect it. The issue is that no page is served : when I ask for a page, I receive 0 byte in answer (the connection times out a _long_ time later). The /var/log/zope/default/Z2.log file is still empty. I don't see any error message. One zope process and several python2.1 processes are running. My production data are on this server and I don't wand to loose them... I have a copy of the data files before crash, but I don't know if I can reuse them. Could anyone help me to restart zope ?

Mathematics, fortran an zope

Hei, Qeustion 1: Say I had som program (written in for instance fortran), that did som advanced calculations (like for instance calculating the resistance of a ship hull in water); Would I then be able to use zope to make som web interface to this fortran program? Question 2: I know it is possible to do mathematics with python. But is it also easy to combine zope with more specialized math programs like for instance Matlab? WebDAV + MS Word 2000 Error

Hi! I am trying to get WebDAV (aka Windows "Webfolders") to work with Zope. When I try to save a MS Word document to a webfolder on my Zope installation, I get the following error: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object Module webdav.NullResource, line 61, in HEAD Not Found: The requested resource does not exist. I am using: SERVER: Zope 2.6.1 CMF 1.3.1 Plone 1.0.1 Linux CLIENT: MS Word 2000 MS Windows 2000 Has anyone managed to get WebDAV to work with MS Word? Thanks, Niclas

One way to do it: Have the form call a python script that reads the database and populates the form during the form rendering. The action of the form could be another python script, which will update the database via a ZSQL method. I have a booking form whose contents are generated from a ZSQL method. The user then uses this form to place another booking. How can I send the new data to another ZSQL method to update the database and then change the same form to reflect the new booking and present this to the user as confirmation. I am OK on using variables in ZSQL it is the mechanics of the submit that i need to know. regards garry

LDAPUserFolder question.

Hello, I have an LDAP question here. When configuring the LDAP User folder, The User Base DN looks something like this: ou=Administration,ou=Occupations,ou=Internal,ou=Personnel,dc=<MyClient>,dc=<Clients Domain> The <> are used by me in this e-mail to indicate the client and client's top level domain. I'm not using the real clientname, etc for privacy reasons. The problem I have is that the first ou, which I list as Administration, is really a variable, i.e. I could have ou=Administration, or ou=Finance, etc. etc. etc. depending on who logs in. How do I tell LDAPUserFolder (or LDAP itself) that the first ou is a variable field rather than a constant? I tried doing ou=*,ou=... but that doesn't work. MySQL User Folder - adding additional user datafields.

I am planning on using MySQL User Folder with a Plone member's only site. I have it working in ZOPE for user signin and that works. I want to add a number data fields for each user, typical fields like ADDRESS, PHONE, POSTAL CODE, TITLE... I need to be able to update and report the data from outside ZOPE, that's why I choose MySQL. While the documentation for MySQL User Folder goes into more depth than most ZOPE products, it is unclear how to best accomplish this task. I want to be able to load the basic user info (title, email, first name, last name) into the REQUEST object at login so I can display and use it throughout the site. There seem to be two methods (NOTE: This is a small site so volume of data is not an issue). 1) enhance the "User" table by adding needed data fields; 2) use the "MiscData" table to hold the data fields. I need the end-users to be able to update some of these fields, such as TELEPHONE. My questions: 1) Which is better storage approach - (1 or 2 from above)? 2) Where can I insert code to load the additional user data into the REQUEST object? It is unclear to me what modules are called when or after the user authenticates by either direct login/http or cookie login. 3) How does ZOPE know to map a user onto a user's folder. 4) I assume I can use any approach for SQL databases to allow the user to update selected user data fields (TELEPHONE, TITLE...). I am looking for a concrete example (ideally with some code to model my work after) or a HowTo to make this happen. Also -- is there some documentation on the USER object in ZOPE (and Plone). It looks like MySqUserFolder loads data into a USER object, but I am unclear how to use that to hold and get the information I am looking for.
