Site Root error

wrap = soft in zope textarea?

Everyone: One of my users (zope 2.6.1) is complaining because the zope textarea edit boxes do not provide any kind of wrapping. On our old 2.4.3 installation, I modified the "wrap=none" to "wrap=soft" in the appropriate spots in ./lib/python/OFS/dtml/dtmlEdit.dtml. I've done the same thing again in 2.6.1 and we have appropriately wrapping text now. My question is whether this is A Bad Thing, discouraged, breaks things, etc. Thanks! Ben -- Benjamin J. Jullian- I have been doing quite a bit of work with Zope and mySQL with no problems. Could you provide a small bit of code showing how you are displaying the form and calling the database? That would let us get started on your problem. Another good list is the zope-db list. I've come across an issue on the Zope installation which I am managing, where a user will submit one of the many forms, and their result will be posted into the database 2 or 3 times. I've defined a primary key, which does get rid of the multiple entries, but confuses the users with a lengthy error message... Any suggestions as to a better solution to stopping these multiple submissions? I have (in general) an index page calling the dtmlform/method, which on submit calls a second dtml method - which calls the sqlquery, then returning the user to the original form. 1. yep, it does a lot more writes ==> more storage space issues, large file issues, and also more i/o. But it is an easy way to address the problem in a lazy way. In addition to frequent log rotation, I just throw fairly decent hardware at the problem, and Linux is quite good at buffering writes like this... 2. Yes; someone once gave me a script on the squid list. ExternalEditor not working after shutdown

Hi, I'm using zope from dzug.org (6.2.1 I think) and installed the ExternalEditor Product yesterday. I could do all my editing yesterday evening with it, but today (after turning the PC off and on again today) it doesn't work anymore :( The Editor starts, but the connection between zopeedit and the zope Server is somehow broken, as nothing gets from the editor back to the server. I changed absolutely nothing form yesterday till now. I also saw that the WebDAV Lock from the ExternalEditor is not set, but I can set WebDAV Locks using cadaver. In the log's is nothing suspicious, only a GET with externalEdit_ inthe URI and after that a LOCK Request. I also tried to use -D with starting the server, but that gives no extra information. Has somebody an idea of what's going on here? Andreas -- Today is National Existential Ennui Awareness Day.

I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG 2.0 Beta 1 What's new in TextIndexNG 2.0? - Relevance ranking of search results added. Searches are now ranked using an extended cosine measure. The cosine measure is based on a vector model and calculates the document "score" based on the frequency of the query terms inside the document result set. - Much faster phrase/near search: the old implementation of TextIndexNG had to perform a very expensive job at query time when phrase/near search was performed. Re-using the !WidCode module of !ZCTextIndex made this operation less expensive. - Left-truncation added: TextIndexNG can be configured creation-time time to support left-truncation (means you can search for "*suffix") - optional auto-expansion support: This optional feature also to get better search results when some of the query terms could not be found. The index expands a query term "foo" to "foo*" if there was no hit for "foo". This expansion is currently global for the index. This feature will be available on a per-query basis in a later version. Plone 1.0.2 - Cannot add site

Hi, I installed Plone 1.0.2 and corrected the installation per the errata on a mostly pristine Zope 2.6.1 setup. I tried to "Add Plone Site": filled in the form and hit the "Add Plone Site" button.
