Zope - forms being submitted once - inserting duplicate & triplicate data into MS Access database

Hello, I hope that I am submitting this request to the correct channels, please point me in the right direction if I am not. I've come across an issue on the Zope installation which I am managing, where a user will submit one of the many forms, and their result will be posted into the database 2 or 3 times. I've defined a primary key, which does get rid of the multiple entries, but confuses the users with a lengthy error message... Any suggestions as to a better solution to stopping these multiple submissions? I have (in general) an index page calling the dtmlform/method, which on submit calls a second dtml method - which calls the sqlquery, then returning the user to the original form. Likely a RedHat 9 threads issue; search the archives of this list in the past 2 months; there should be a wealth of info, I think including a fix... problem with zfill

Hi, I've strange problem with using zfill in python scripts in Zope. My script is simple: -------------- import string outa = str1.zfill(6) return outa -------------- str1 is a parameter given by interface. Running the script gives me: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: 'str' object has no attribute 'zfill' I understand the meaning of the error but why it's happening? Others functions like: outa = str1.upper() works great. Zope is in version 2.6.1 and Python in 2.2.1. Zope Newbie having performance problems with v 2.6.1 needs a little advice...

Dear Zope Community, A little advice on the following problem would be appreciated: I recently downloaded v 2.6.1 as Zope-2.6.1-linux2-x86.tgz from www.zope.org and installed in in /usr/local/Zope on RedHat 9.0 running on a Pentium Pro 180 MHz w/128Mb ram. RHL-9 is running fine but I can't say the same for Zope. The static index page from the webserver comes up fine and the ftp server works like a champ but when I try to get into the management console after successfully authenticating the console never fully comes up or comes up but with a lot of broken images and I can't get to anywhere below the root level and/or the webserver never completes the request to the browser I'm hitting the server from. I've tried this both on the same machine that Zope is running on and from other machines in my LAN and I always get the same behavior. I've checked the log files: /usr/local/Zope/zope_event_log.log and /usr/local/Zope/var/Z2.log for complaints from Zope but there are none; the logs indicate that Zope is happy but it's not behaving as if it is. I tried adding the "-t" and "-n" flags to the start script to get Zope to demand more resources from the system but still no change. can't seem to get zope working on RedHat Linux 9

Have Zope installed and started on RedHat Linux 9. Attempts to browse to http://localhost:8080/manage, from local machine, or http:// <http://%3cip-address%3e/manage> <ip-address>/manage, from a remote machine, hang and/or fail after timing out. HTTP Get entries do appear in the var/Z2.log. Are others experience trouble with zope on RedHat Linux 9? Has anyone overcome trouble with zope of RedHat Lilnux 9? Thanks, Ted

Reset admin password...?

Hello all, total newbie here... I downloaded and installed Zope about a month ago but only tonight got around to start playing with it. When I try to get the admin page (http://localhost:8080/manage) I get prompted for a username/password and everything I tried failed. RTFM tells me that the installation should have given me a username/password but I don't remember anything like that. More RTFM tells me to use zpasswd.py to reset the password in the access file. Problem is there is no 'access' file anywhere, and creating one in the zope dir doesn't do anything... Needless to say, I didn't get very far with Zope yet. Setup: Win2k, Zope, Python, Cygwin, Apache... Can't debug Zope using ZPublisher

I am trying to debug some Zope code. I have read the developers manual and thought I would try it using ZPublisher. But I can't get it to work. I am using Zope 2.6.1 on Windows. I start python in a shell, import Zope, ZPublisher and then try to run a url: ZPublisher.Zope('/junk'), this gives me back an error page that says resource not found ..... 'http://localhost/Zope/junk'. I have a dtml document in the root directory of my zope installation called 'junk'. I have also tried '/Examples' which also doesn't return anything. Any ideas? Help with Acquisition (long)

I'm building an application dealing with multiple Departments, each with multiple members. Here's a short diagram of the folders in question Department (department level information and forms) +--Members (department Roster) +--Individual (individual level information and forms) +--Status (tracks status information and history) The Members index_html (dtml_method) displays all of the active members (stored in a mySQL database), displaying each member as a link as follows ("Get" is a Z_SQLMethod) <ul> <dtml-in Get> <li><a href = "myserver/Individual?member_number=&dtml-member_number;>&dtml-name;</a> </dtml-in> </ul> This calls the Individual/index_html (a dtml_method), passing it member_number as expected. The Individual folder has a link allowing the user to add a status value for the individual <a href="myserver/Memebrs/Individual/Status/AddForm/memno=&dtml-memno;;">Add Status</a><br> This calls a dtml_document which renders a form to add a status for the individual. This form calls Status/Add (a dtml method) which in turn calls AddSQL (an Z_SQLMethod) to post the data to the database. <dtml-var my_header> <dtml-call "AddSQL()"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('Status')> <dtml-call my_footer> This post the data to my Status table, but fails on th redirect. The problem I'm encountring is the redirect fails because the Status/index_html cannot find member_number. I thought that member_number would be in the Individual namespace, but it's nowhere to be found. Since the Individual folder will eventually have a lot of sub-folders (Addresses, Phones, Equipment, etc.) I would really like to use Acquisition rather than passing member_number explicitly. I've re-read the sections in "The Zope Bible" (pp 72+), "Web Application Construction Kit" (pp 82+), and "The Zope Book" (multiple places), but I guess I just don't get it. How and Where do I set the member_number so that all of the sub-folders can "see" (acquire) it? Thanks for your time and help. Greg Lindstrom Vilonia, Arkansas
