Code objects: keep it on the filesystem; use directory views, either via CMF or via FileSystemSite product. Use CVS. ZODB versions are not "versions" - but long running transactions. Content in ZODB: use ZopeVersionControl products. Code your app to use it. ZOPE 2.6.2 Beta 3 Released Zope 2.6.2b3 represents a development step in the next Zope release formed with a large number of community contributions. You may download Zope 2.6.2b3 from Zope.org: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.6.2b3/ Users of the Zope source release should note that Python 2.1.3 is now the required platform. Python 2.1.3 includes a fix to an issue that could cause crashes in Zope. Users who upgrade from source MUST RUN a |make clean| and |make| command to build the proper binaries correctly; distutils will skip compilation of the library modules needed for Zope and will cause errors if they are not up to date. Hi Evan, Problem solved! I suddenly realised that the problem may have been the means by which I was trying to debug - I was using tal:content to view the variable and in doing so was causing it to be rendered, whereas just using a tal:define does exactly what you suggested and works properly! I got an STDF version 4.0 binary datalog file reader from http://www.datalogs.org that translates those nasty binary files to plain ASCII text files so that I can see what is inside. The reader consists of some C code and API library routines. If anyone has constructed a DTD definition for Standard Test Data Format (STDF) version 4 we would be grateful if you would share. -thanks

Question is how do I know which objects store data and how many fields (attributes) are there and their data types etc. in each of those objects. If I get all data then I can keep what is needed and provide the option to delete what is not needed. It'll be great if I can get all the data exported to mysql database. how can I enforce my own Delete permission

Hi all, I defined my own permission to delete an object like so: security.declareProtected( 'Delete ZehnderRequests', 'manage_beforeDelete' ) def manage_beforeDelete(self, item, container): "just here to enforce permisson" if not self.portal_membership.getAuthenticatedMember().has_permission('Delete ZehnderRequests', self): raise BeforeDeleteException in the class definition I declare security.setPermissionDefault('Delete ZehnderRequests', ['Manager', 'Owner' ] at the end of the class definition I call InitializeClass( CMFZehnderRequest ) now my problem: every user has the permission set altough only manager should have it. what am I doing wrong here ? thanks for any typ. Problems programatically creating an instance of LocalFS

I am pretty sure the reason I cannot create a LocalFS instance is something stupid, but I can't seem to track it down. Any help would be appreciated. Zope unit testing - users?

I've managed to trace the current user down to SecurityManager._context.user, but reassigning that doesn't seem to make the change. Any hints?
