POSKeyError after versioning...

After some unfortunate versioning, packing and deleting the old Data.fs file (Yes, it couldn't be worse), I found myself with a corrupted Data.fs file with a POSKeyError inside a folder. There seems to be a corrupted object somewhere. I get the Error Value (and I can get the 'oid' too). Any working direction in order to get rid of this object? ( An easy way to copy objects and paste them in a new Data.fs? isn't it what packing does? dtml syntax help needed

Hi, I am returning a list of records from a zsql method with dtml-in I want to query another zsql method during each iteration of the outer dtml-in to get a value from another database based on the login just displayed in the first dtml-in (at least this is how I think it would go from a dtml standpoint) I have one database which displays user names based on some search parameter. I would then like to query a second database to get the actual name of the person to display below their user name. My first attempt showed all of the users listed and then only one of the user names had an associated real name...I think this was because I was getting the very last match to login in the second database, not one matches for each iteration of the in loop <dtml-in AssetList size=20 start=query_start> ... <dtml-var LOGIN null="Not Listed"> <dtml-in "emp_lookup()"> &dtml-first; &dtml-last; </dtml-in> ... </dtml-in> emp_lookup looks like: select Firstname as first, Lastname as last from employees where login= '<dtml-var LOGIN>' Any ideas on how to do this syntactically?

'Inherited' Security Problem

Hi All, After I upgraded to zope 2.6.0 I'm no longer able to use dtml-var to include a restricted dtml method in a non restricted dtml method. The previous versions of zope would give me the possibility to log in the see the complete page or to deny complete access. Nowadays the page gives a KeyError with the value of the restricted page. Does anyone has a solution? Greetings Ralph

calling os.system using external method

All, All, I have an External method that uses os.system to execute a linux command on a local host. I am trying to pass a file name to the findDocs function (see below) to locate the location (path) of the wanted file and print it out on a dtml document. Can someone please show me how to make this work? Best way to export multiple objects

I'd like to migrate pieces of content between servers. I'm concerned that it will get tedious to do these one at a time. The problem is that the site is already organized hierarchically and I don't want to throw everything into one big directory and mess that up. Furthermore, it is a Plone site and there seem to be a few more restrictions. I tried exporting the whole site...that cause problems (the ZMI interface for these objects looked totally messed up). I also tried taking just the content folders and putting them in a folder via copy/paste to then just export that single folder. That didn't work because Plone doesn't allow you to copy and paste certain object types (at least I got errors when trying to do so). Finally, I tried using FTP thinking I could nicely drag and drop stuff from one server to another. Sadly, the FTP client doesn't support non-standard ports and the one Zope/Plone site that has an FTP on a standard port didn't get along with my FTP client. So, all this has me wondering...how can I export my content. It seems like it would have been a nice feature in Zope to allow me to just check several objects and then hit export and have Zope export all of them. As far as I can tell, this is not supported. Any help appreciated. -- Mike

With the right design and the right know-how, anything is possible. Here's the biggest problem with this question: technologies (i.e. app servers) don't scale when you are talking at this threshold - solutions do. Zope will scale quite well, likely on par with Java app servers, but likely will do so in different ways. You don't say what kind of site this is. Much of the answer depends on how cacheable your content/pages are, how many users are required to login, etc. It also depends on how you scale (up vs. out). Zope has relatively good scalability for some types of applications, and solutions are available for clustering (ZEO), and replication (ZRS or DirectoryStorage). With some of the cutting edge stuff out there like ESI support in combination with Squid 3 (development branch of Squid), you could likely build quite large clusters of Zope servers with much of the CPU intensive work out to proxy server farms. I know the folks at Zope Corp. are doing some really heavy-duty stuff with ESI and cutting-edge versions of Squid to extend the reach of the application beyond simply the app server: anything that intends to scale to this many users would likely take this kind of approach. One note on Zope and scalability: Zope generally scales out better than it scales up, though with blade servers using fast interconnects, this distinction will largely be blurred within the next few years. Zope/Python like single-CPU affinity for groups of threads under the same process, so when you do choose to scale Zope heavily, using an OS capable of processor-binding would be a requirement (newest Linux 2.4, Solaris, etc). Low-latency for communication media between ZEO clients and the ZEO storage server are also a good idea. Retrieving Dictionary Keys wtih DTML....

I am trying to retrieve a value from a dictionary using dtml, but when I try using <dtml-var "DICTIONARY['key'}"> I get an exception Error.... How do I do this simply and correctly..... TIA WPH
