End user help system product

Does anyone know of a help system suitable for end users of a Zope web application? I have KnowledgeKit, but it is about 4 years old and doesn't have facilities for just putting up help for a page or context help for page elements. Anyone have something they can recommend? 1) I think I would put the project names in a table of their own with the key (id) set to "auto_increment", such would solve your numbering/display problem. [create table trash (id int not null auto_increment,...);] Then insert like: insert into trash values (null,....); the null causes the auto_increment to kick in. 2) use <dtml-var name="ID" sql_quote> (actually, I'm not sure whether or not you need the "sql_quote" part, but you do need the "name=" part. directory checksum error

I tried to download the source for 2.6.2, but get errors when unzipping x Zope-2.6.2-src/lib/python/Products/PluginIndexes/TextIndex/Splitter/Unic odeSplitter/src, 0 bytes, 0 tape blocks tar: directory checksum error OR x Zope-2.6.2-solaris-2.8-sparc/lib/python/Products/PageTemplates/tests/inp ut/CheckBatchIteration.html, 275 bytes, 1 tape blocks x Zope-2.6.2-solaris-2.8-sparc/lib/python/Products/PageTemplates/tests/inp ut/CheckI18nTranslate.html, 348 bytes, 1 tape blocks tar: directory checksum error Any idea? Hoy to install LDAP with Zope 2.6.1 and python2.1.3 under redhat 9.0...

Hi, I'm trying to use LDAPUserFolder with Zope 2.6.1 and python2.1.3 under RedHat 9.0. (By the way, RedHat 9.0 installed python2.2 too) I installed python-ldap-2.0.Opre13.tar.gz. The result go through /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/ld* files and sub directory ldap... I copied /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/ld* files and subdirectory ldap to /zope/lib/python2.1/site-packages. (Is it really necessary?) Now if I go to /zope/bin/python and type import _ldap I've got an error message which is: importError /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/_ldap.so: undefined symbol:ldap_first_reference I believed /zope/bin/python use /zope/lib/python2.1 but its seems wrong!!! Now I think I have to install an openldap package to resolve ldap_first_reference but I don't know it's name for redhat 9.0... Is there anybody to help me? Thanks. Patrick Gelin

Security of a Web Application in Zope

Hello All, We've been working with Zope on a few projects, and have come to realize that our development methodology has left some wide gaps in security. Let me demonstrate with an example: The project heirarchy basically looks like this: /root index.html otherfiles.html /queries all Z SQL Methods /scripts all python scripts The problem as I percieve it is that you can feed my Z SQL Methods and python scripts any input you want if you know what they are called. This is bad. Security via Obscurity is not secure. I *thought* that perhaps I could revoke all rights to Anonymous from the methods and scripts, and then give them to Owner, and Proxy Role the .html files to Owner, but that seems to block inter-script and script-to-query calls. I would have to Proxy Role every object, of which there is no easy interface to do so. Anyone with better thoughts on securing my scenario? (Or, indeed, if I need to turn my scenario on its head?) zopectlrc missing

I also posted this on the Yahoo groups. Ok this is my problem that I hope that someone out there can help with. I have been using zope for about six mouth to do various things for my work. We recently got a new server that is based away for our company and it runs Debian Linux. I had used apt-get to install a zope insallation on the new server and it had worked fine. However, my boss told me that I needed Zope 2.6.1 in order to transfer the site that we have on the intranet Zope site. So I used apt-get to uninstall the Zope that it had installed and used it again to install the 2.6.1. NB I believe that apt-get had installed Zope 2.6.1 the first time around but I did not really check. Anyways on the second instal of Zope 2.6.1 Zope doesn't start it gives the following error: zopectl: E: cannot find configuration file: /etc/zope/zopectlrc I know that the first time I installed the Zope using apt-get the file was there cause I had actually seen it is /etc/zope because I had to run zopectl create to create the INSTANCE_HOME in that file and then zopectl start in order to start Zope. NOw (after the second install) when I run zopectl create I get the same error message as above. The thing is I know that if I get a copy of the zopectlrc file I can edit it to suit my installation and make the zope run but I can't find a copy of this file on the net anywhere. I am asking if possible if some one can post a copy of the file or suggest a way around this problem if possible tanx...

correct 404 error page?

Hi all, I was move or delete some subfolders from long running site, but _all_ search engines (google etc.) still does searching at these failed URLs for more than 2 months. Does somebody have correct error message that these search engines will respect? I do not mean redirect <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.redirect('/notfound.html', lock=1)">, I want to set "something" into HTML header response. Many thanks Jaroslav Lukesh
