Inside a ZPT I am calling "python here.getTranscript().getEntry(1).getTimestamp()". All subobjects are derived from Persistent and Implicit and are setup for public access (declareObjectPublic()). The getTimestamp() method is protected by the 'View' permission. When the ZPT is called then Unauthorized is raised: Exception Value Your user account is defined outside the context of the object being accessed. Access to 'getTimestamp' of (TranscriptEntry instance at 933db28) denied. Your user account, admin, exists at /acl_users. Access requires one of the following roles: ['Manager']. The account 'admin' is definited in /acl_users and has the Manager role and the View permission is granted to all roles....very weird. Any ideas? Andreas

changing Zope's logging

I need to change the logging so it reports our some additional infomration, but I'm having trouble localizing where the logging really happens. The new flexible logging system in Zope 2.6.2b3 makes it a bit difficult to find where the log entry is really constructed. The reason I need to change how logging work has to do with user tracking. In my new system setup, I have something akin to virtual hosting, but the vast majority of the site is shared. Multiple urls funnel into the same zope instance (that is, 127.0.0.1:<port>). I post process the usual Z2.log and need to have it reflect the original url source.

Simple way to obfuscate email addresses to foil spambots?

Does anyone have any suggestions as the best way to, within Zope, obfuscate email addresses such that, when passed an email, a script obfuscates it from being picked up by email-address collecting robots? Or any other creative anti-spam tricks.. I work at an educational nonprofit and our spam load seems to be increasing exponentially.. Thank you, Chris

Yes, that is what I want!! Adding attributes to PageTemplateFile

I have a product in which I have the following constructor ------------------------------------ software_type_list = [ {'value': 'OS'}, {'value': 'Applikation'}, {'value': 'Service'} ] manage_addSoftwareForm = PageTemplateFile("www/software_form_add", globals()) ------------------------------------ In the "software_form_add" file I want to be able to access the list "software_type_list" like this: ------------------------------------ <select accesskey="o" size=1 name="type"> <option tal:repeat="option here/software_type_list" tal:attributes="value option/value" tal:content="option/value"> Value </option> </select> ------------------------------------ But I don't know how I make the "software_type_list" accessable in my template file. I've tried this: manage_addSoftwareForm = PageTemplateFile("www/software_form_add", globals(), software_type_list = software_type_list) which doesn't work. I seem to recall seeing something about adding software_type_list to the context, but I can't find it anymore. Any ideas? TIA - Carsten

ZODB or MySQL for form data?

I'm coming to Zope from PHP where my database is MySQL. However I am wanting to move to Zope and am trying to learn the correct way of working in this platform. I know that I can connect to MySQL from Zope but from what I read it appears that the use of this feature is recommended only if one is wanting to use an existing database. Since I am starting a new Zope application, and will be creating new data files, is it better to use MySQL or ZODB to handle form data? I would really appreciate hearing from experienced Zope users on this matter. Paul

But I can't get that instance because getattr doesn't find it !! (Even though it is there, in the same folder, available to be acquired) The strange thing is that before I wrote the classes into python modules, I had the whole thing as pure Zope products, and everythng was working fine. then I split it into two in order to have the functionality as regular Python modules, and when I come back into Zope, the same thing no longer works ?
