Problem passing absolute path to a external method

Hi when I run in Python a script it runs fine, but when I put it on the extension folder of Zope and added the external method in the Zope folder where I need to start the search, this returrn an error that say " Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: IOError Error Value: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'chr1/CDS.htm'" The external method is in a folder called database, inside that folder are 14 folders called chr1, chr2, chr3 etc..., and inside any folder is a DTML document called CDS.htm. I already know the proble is something with the absolute path, but I don't know how I can pass this value to the external method, I really need to use those files from the ZODB because they are used to show it if somebody request it from a search in the Zcatalog. Uploading Images Via FTP

Hi All, I'm a newbie at this Zope thing so please bare with me. I've been using zope for about a year but I have always used the browser to make any changes and upload images. I'm the graphics designer for the site and we have a programmer that does all the backend stuff but he went back to school and I find myself with an issue that I need resolved. Like I said before I have always uploaded any images for the site through the browser and up till now I really had no problem with that even when it was quite a bit of images. But this time the amount of images I must upload are too much, 206 to be esact, and more will follow. I want to use FTP but everytime I brought up the question of using FTP to our programmer he said it could not be done. Is this true? I've seen other emails that say it can be done. What do I have to do to be able to upload the images using ftp? We are running the latest Zope build. David, I have experienced the same problem. Essentially AUTHENTICATED_USER would waver between the actual authenticated user and the Anonymous User, with no logical explanation for the change. Apparently the problem is related to the HTTP authentication protocol, and some browsers in particular cause this phenomenon. My solution was to use cookie authentication. Performance Hit

Hi; I want to call parts of the "pages" Zope serves from a MySQL database. My programmer tells me there would be a performance hit. I have a hard time understanding why (or if there is, I think it would be small). After all, Zope itself calls everything from a database (ZODB) and all of this activity would be server-side. There will be nothing complicated in the call: four simultaneous calls per page served. Is this problematic? TIA, beno

It also seems likely that it could byte-compile better as a result. You can at present write a script that defines functions, but the downside is that they are defined each time you run the script! (Because they're really nested functions, since they run inside of what ultimately is the body of a function). It might well encourage more use of python for logic without having to go to the step of creating specialized products. Caching Results of External PageTemplateFiles

All the documentation on Caching I can find seems to relate to objects that can be found through the Zope Managment Interface. I would like to cache the results of calls to specific PageTemplates that are stored on the file system as part of an external python product. Any ideas? Links to info? --Sean

inheriting from an Image object

When I make a ZClass that inherits from an image object and I make one instance. The instance doesn't have the "add" form of Image by default. Should it? I think it should. Am I doing something wrong? Daniel
