Zope 2.7.3 database pack fails

Well, the ol' Data.fs got bigger (now 3.9GB) and so it's time to cut it back down to size. Unfortunately, just clicking "pack" on the control panel does not seem to do the job. This Data.fs has a history (2.5.1b3, 2.6, and now 2.7.3). The question is, how to pack it.

Sharing images between different sites

Is there any way to set up an images folder which can be shared between several sites under one zope instance? If so how would I reference them if they were all in the /images folder? -- John

ZopeXMLMethods in 2.7.3 (yet again)

All, I'm trying to get the ZopeXMLMethods product install and running. When I try to add a XSLT Method the authentication window pop ups. Which database?

I'd like to connect up a database to Zope, but have no real database experience. My choice is between MySQL and PostgreSQL. Is there any difference between them from Zope's POV? -- John

My basic rules of thumb are like this: Basic web app (INSERT/UPDATEs rare, many simple SELECTs): MySQL/MyISAM App that needs ACID/relational integrity (more complex app, frequent updates, maybe more complex selects): MySQL/InnoDB Complex app that has multiple clients (web/desktop etc. Here stored procedures and referential integrity are real benefits): PostgreSQL. But I have no experience with Firebird. Just as a reference point, one of the busiest sites I know the backend of - Livejournal.com - uses MySQL. They're transitioning to InnoDB at the moment. On their system the critical feature was cost, rather than supporting advanced features. Zope -> MySQL Weirdness

Hello, I am just starting to learn Zope and am having trouble getting it to communicate with mySQL. Here is what I have done thus far: - Built and compiled MySQLdb and ZMySQLDA. - Installed the 'Z MySQL Database Connection. - Entered in the 'Database Connection String' (DB, user, password) Once done, I went to the 'Test' tab and here is where things get weird: - I can run an INSERT statement with no trouble and verify that the DB is updated. - However, whenever I run any sort of SELECT query I get the following error: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: object does not support item assignment I also get this error when trying to put a SELECT in Z SQL Method. I'm very new at this stuff and come from a PHP/Perl/mySQL/postgreSQL background, so any help at all is appreciated. If desired, I can send the error_log output as well. I just don't get it. :-( Thank you for an help, suggestions, advice. I've googled this to bits to no avail. I am really enjoying Zope so far; just wish I understood it better. Regards, Tom

CMF Photo Album + "Raw" Image Formats

I'm a newb when it comes to archiving images, so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I want to use Plone as a content management system (CMS) my images, which are currently stored on my hard drive as PNM files. These files are scanned copies of 4x6 images, and are usually ~6 MB in size. I am using Plone 2.0.4 with CMF Photo Album/Photo 0.5.0 and pil 1.1.4. I use the PNM file format for my pictures because it's the "rawest" format that I can use with xsane (I also use Gentoo Linux). When I upload my pictures in the PNM format to Plone, I'm not able to see them. I then tried converting the image (using convert) to a tiff file (since that's also pretty "raw", right?) and uploading it. However, I'm still not able to see the image in my cmf photo album. I ended up converting it to a bitmap, and I'm able to see that in my album. Is the bmp file format considered a "raw" format? I would like to keep it as raw as possible so that I can use (or at least convert) my images 50 years from now. Is there a better format to use? I'm using plone as my CMS because I want to attach metadata to my images. Is anyone else using a different free program that works better than this solution? Thanks in advance! Tom Purl

Problem sending mail

I get an error sending out mail from within a Plone app:- This site encountered an error trying to fulfill your request.
