Dear Zopers Here is another question that I cannot find a satisfying solution for. The situation is that I have a ZPT with a list (batched table) from which I can select items to edit and add there is a button to add new items. This button is part of a form like this: <form action="." method="post"> <p> <input type="submit" name="delItems:method" value="Delete Poets"/> <input type="submit" name="manage_addItemForm:method" value="Add Item"/> </p> ... </form> Pressing the "Add Item" button invokes the manage_addItemForm and modifies the URL in the REQUEST object accordingly. On that form one can enter all item details and press an "Add Item" button that is programmed like this: <form method="post" action="addItem"> <table> <tr> <th class="left">Name</th> <td><input type="text" name="title" size="72"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan=2 align="center"><input type="submit" value="Add Item"/></td> </tr> </table> </form> This still works fine and calls the appropriate method in the Product's class. That method looks like this: def addItem(self, title, REQUEST=None): "Method to add an item." id = self.newId() item = Item(id, title) self.Library._setObject(id, item) if REQUEST is not None: return self.listItems(REQUEST) def listItems(self, REQUEST=None): "Method to list items." _request = {'meta_type':category} _results = self.Catalog.search(_request) if REQUEST is not None: REQUEST['results'] = _results return self.index_items(self, REQUEST) # <<< this does not modify REQUEST! else: return _results This still works well so far. The problem occurs here, however, that the URL of the REQUEST object is not modified as it is when using a form. It still contains the "addItem" action and its parameters (in QUERY_STRING) instead of "listItems". As a result, when the table is sorted, for example, the same item is added again !!! [ANN] PropertyTools 2.0 released

Hi, yesterday I've released PropertyTools - the successor of PropertyObject/-folder. What the hell are PropertyTools good for? If you want to "prototype" object-oriented database-applications with Zope, PropertyTools will provide you with handy data-storages. If you get the idea behind PropertyTools (and the object-factory-tool AbracadabraObject), you can create simple database-applications based on the ZMI within 5 minutes (of course you can create complex applications with PropertyTools too, I've done some complex apps like univerisity-course-management-systems with lots of relations etc. based on PropertyTools in the last months which run nicely in production). If you spend just some additional minutes, you'll be done with a customized webapplication within 2 hours...:) Think of PropertyTools-Objects as lockable & sortable & workflowable ZMI-propertysheets which can be synchronized via a virtual class-attribute (object_type). Additionaly you can define different templates for rendering each virtual PropertyTools-class. Creating a simple faq-database or a contact-database with PropertyTools can be done in minutes, not hours... I'll promise! What's changed to 1.x? - Added PropertyFile besides PropertyObject & PropertyFolder - Added simple demo.zexp (a faq-database) to demonstrate how to use PropertyTools. - Updated property-sheets to Zope2.7-templates. - Refactored all code for managing the propertysheets into a new Mixin-Class PropertyTools. - Added additional Top/Buttom-Buttons for ordering properties. Opera 7 and ZMI

Is anyone else using Opera 7 with Zope? Have you noticed this dangerous bug? http://my.opera.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=23618 I reported it a year ago on the O7 beta list and they seem to not care enough to fix it. I know it's an Opera bug, but what change, if any, could be made to Zope to rid it of the wrap="off" that triggers this bug without losing the functionality it provides? -- Ron Bickers Logic Etc, Inc.

I really screwed up.

Hi all, I made the mistake of trying to upgrade a working system from Zope 2.6.2 to 2.7.0 one week before I demo to the company officers. I also decided that rather than have multiple copies of python all over the place, I'd just have one and I'd point my development tools over to it. I screwed up Visual Python so bad, it no longer runs any python code. I got around that by installing Komodo so I can now at least debug my program. Here's my problem. I'm using external methods extensively. My Zope instance is c:\website. My external modules are in c:\website\extensions. I've got two modules; Externals.py and BarsDB.py. Externals.py imports BarsDB. This was all working on Zope 2.6.2. Now I get an error message "AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'BSConnection'" It's strange. It looks like its finding the module but not actually getting any of the names. It's also not generating any errors on the import command. (I was having that problem before with 2.6 but I got it working.) I wrote this little function to test import BarsDB def index_html(REQUEST): return "\n".join(dir(BarsDB)) When I run this from my development environment (Komodo at the moment), everything shows up. I get this list; AcctDesc BSConnection DataLine DataLines ... etc, etc. When I run the same routine from Zope, I get; __builtins__ __doc__ __file__ __name__ That's it. I thought that maybe Zope wasn't finding my BarsDB module and was generating a default empty module instead of generating an error telling me it couldn't find the module. I added a line c:\website\extensions to the Zope sys.path variable and it shows up correctly when I look at the debug information. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this? It seemingly finds my module but doesn't process it.

Can anyone suggest how I can include some debugging in a Python script? I don't suppose there is any way to single-step through a program is there? -- John

home option ignored on this platform

It seems that my problem with '--prefix' results from Python ignoring the home option.
