Ah, thank you for your input Matt, which made me look deeper into the Plone way of creating a private site. Like you say, .htaccess is not the right way to approach this, for the reasons your describe. Neither is the Zope way of setting security permissions on a folder for a particular user or Role. revision manager cvs problem

I have a newbie CVS problem. I installed revision manager, but I can't seem to get it working. The error message I get is : Error Type: CVSError Error Value: cvs import: cannot make path to /var/cvs/quality_system: Permission denied cvs import: ERROR: cannot write file /var/cvs/quality_system/.index_html.properties,v: No such file or directory cvs import: ERROR: cannot write file /var/cvs/quality_system/index_html,v: No such file or directory Any idead? Session data timeout reset

I have zope 2.6.2 (win and lin) and would like to know how to stop the */ <http://localhost:9080/manage_workspace>temp_folder <http://localhost:9080/temp_folder/manage_workspace>/session_data <http://localhost:9080/temp_folder/session_data/manage_workspace> *resetting the Data object timeout value back to 20 when the zope server restarts. Can anyone help? Thanks

[ANN] mxm Workgroups 1.2 for Plone released

mxm Workgroups makes collaboration easy and possible for networked and virtual organisations. It is a way to make shared "workspaces" where groups of people can collaborate. Yet it still has all the freedom, flexibility and simplicity as a normal Plone folder. Changes ------- - Added Workgroup workflows and corresponding GroupMember role. - Added support for Internationalisation (i18n). Only danish and english .po files though. But it should be easy to do your own translation now. - Linux users had problems due to a bug in PageTemplates concerning newlines. All .cpt and .pt files are now in Unix format. So hopefully that should be solved. mxm Workgroups consists of three main parts ------------------------------------------- 1. A Workgroup content type, that acts just like a normal Plone folder. With the difference that you can add members to it, and give these member local roles in the workgroup. These folders acts like Member folders, only for groups. **Different groupmembers can have different roles**. 2. A workgroup tool that keeps track of the groups and their members. It registers the Workgroups internally for speed. This also means that Workgroup members does not need to have local roles in a workgroup to be members. 3. A Workgroup workflow with an additional state "Visible for users" Content and Workgroups in this state can only be seen by members of the workgroup that has the local roles of "GroupMember" or "Owner" in that Workgroup. Apache .htaccess and zope

Hi. Does anyone know if it is possible to password protect a zope folder running behind Apache with .htaccess. Why would I want to do such a thing? I have a Plone 2 site running that I need to give selective access to, but those who get access must have complete permission to manage. Normally I would do this by assigning folder permissions in Zope to a guest user, but Plone does not seem to like that. htaccess is working on Apache. What I have tried is dropping a .htaccess file in my zope site root (/http/site.org). Apache does not seem to see this file after the rerewriterules, which I think is the problem. Refresh Page Template

Hi! I've got a webform on a page-template. When the user clicks on the submit button a python-script is called. After executing the script I want to refresh the page-template with the form on it. I now use context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect('name/of/pt') at the end Of the script. But (for example) when I call the script from another page-template I also get redirected to the first pt... I know, I could send a variable with the script-call and redirect to the right pt, but I was wondering if there is another (better) way of doeing this. For example if I could send a 'refresh' command to the browser! Thanx for any help! Greetings, Marco

This script needs to: - - Test for the existence of a counter called "job_step". - If it does not exist, initialise it as one (it's an integer). - If it does exist, perform conditional tasks based on it's value. My script reads, in part: - req = context.REQUEST if req.has_key('job_step'): if req.job_step == 1: do that... else: do the other... else: container.REQUEST.set('job_step', 1) do this... ...and that's where my problem lies - the test /always/ fails! If I throw the whole request into the page template, I can see that the key "job_step" is listed, with a value of one. Subsequently, a second script called by the same template increments it to two, which I can also see, if I comment out the line which sets it to one - but when the whole page is thrown for "step 2", the test fails and the value is reset to one. So: - - Can anyone help me understand what I'm doing wrong? - I've been advised in the past that "REQUEST", although it "acts" like a dictionary is not actually a dictionary. Is this so? - Is there a way of testing that "req" is a dictionary? - If it isn't, shouldn't "has_key" barf? This feels like a basic, stupid, question, but I'm stuck and - apart from reminding me that I've been here before, Google is apparently /not/ my friend today...
