Zope and Javascript

Does anyone know of any resources that describe the use of Javascript within Zope? In particular, I am trying to call a Javascript function using the onChange event handler that is tied to a HTML select element. I need this Javascript function to perform an SQL query and then have it populate another HTML select element with the result set. Is this possible within Zope considering that queries are performed by Z SQL methods and possible other factors that I am unaware of? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

Python: methods arguments limited to 256?

Zope startup - no Internet connection

I wish to run Zope in a "standalone" mode on a Windows/XP laptop, that is not necessarily connected to the Internet. This is to allow "offline" development and also to demonstrate our application in situations where there is no Internet connectivity - the browser, Zope, SQL are all operating on my laptop. I have found in the past that the Zope server will not start up unless there is an active Internet connection. Once it is started, the connection can go away and Zope will continue to operate correctly. This means that I can startup Zope in my office (where I am connected), then hibernate my machine, and resume my work in another (disconnected) location. The problem is that if I have to reboot the machine at a disconnected location, I can no longer demonstrate my work or continue development. Has anybody discovered a solution to this dilemma? To be able to start up the Zope server on a windows machine that is not actively connected to the Internet. Thank you.

How do I access DTML namespaces from a script that calls a script ?

I am having a small problem understanding the DTML namespace and context objects. I'm calling a python script object from within DTML. Within the script object, I have "_" set to the DTML namespace so that I can access any object within the request object (and the calling DTML). However, when I make a call from within that script to another script, I lose access to "_" and to the acquisition path from the DTML namespace down through the request. How do I carry all this information from call to call inside of python scripts ? Russell Fine

i18n Images

Hello. How would one provide alternate images based on i18n. For example: if english show image 1 if portuguese show image 2 I have been looking for ZPT examples, but everything I have found so far relates to translating text strings. Why does calling python scripts with and without quotes have a different resulting namespace ?

In DTML, when I call a script (let's call is S) using <dtml-var S> the script receives the DTML namespace as "_". However, when I call it using <dtml-var "S()"> the script seems to getting an empty namespace. Aren't these two identical ? Russell Fine
