Hi, I have a Zcatalog search very similar to the one in the Zope book. the page with the search form is in the top frame of a 2 frame page. the code for it was generated by the ZSearch Interface: <form action="results.html" method="get"> Enter query parameters:<br><table> <tr><th>SearchTextIdx</th> <td><input name="searchTextIdx" width=30 value=""></td></tr> <tr><td colspan=2 align=center> <input type="SUBMIT" name="SUBMIT" value="Submit Query"> I would like to have results.html display in the bottom frame instead of the top frame where the search form is. after much looking for answers on zope.org and elsewhere it appears there is not a shred of howto available to help me here. setting icon w/o registering

I have a class in my zope product that is derived from Folder that I use to restrict the meta types that users of the folder can add class ExperimentFolder(Folder): meta_type="IRB Experiment Folder" _allowed_meta_types = ('IRB Experiment',) InitializeClass(ExperimentFolder) I am not registering this class because the user will never add it themselves - it will be added automatically by some other code in the product. Normally the icon for the object is set in the register call def initialize(registrar): registrar.registerClass( ExperimentFolder, constructors = (addForm, addFunction), icon = 'www/myicon.gif' ) but I am not currently registering it. I could register it, but I prefer not to populate the 'Add' list in normal folders with lots of objects that I never intend to add from that interface. Is there a way to set the icon otherwise? What would happen if I tried to register it with an empty constructor list? registrar.registerClass( ExperimentFolder, constructors = (,), icon = 'www/myicon.gif' ) Thanks! JDH zope 2.7

users, properties and roles

I am writing a zope2 workflow product. There are a variety of roles in the flow: a researcher, administrator, reviewer. I am in the very early stages of implementing the product and am wondering how to best reuse zope's users and rolls. For example, I would like to have extra properties on my users, say an email address, contact phone etc. Is it good practice to subclass AccessControl.User.BasicUser and BasicUserFolder to add properties to the user? Is it good practice to add the additional roles (researcher, reviewer) within the standard manage_access framework? In out project, these roles can overlap (you can be a researcher and a reviewer on different projects in the same workflow) and do determine access level information. I've looked over the User Management products at zope.org. Does one or more of these come recommended to support, for example, easy addition of user properties as described above? UnicodeError with TextIndexNG2 and stemming

Hello, I'm getting the very same error than the one described in http://www.dzug.org/mailinglisten/zope/archive/2004/2004-02/1077812031382 (in German, but I couldn't find other references to this problem) * Module Products.TextIndexNG2.TextIndexNG, line 220, in index_object * Module Products.TextIndexNG2.TextIndexNG, line 370, in _index_object * Module Products.TextIndexNG2.lexicons.StandardLexicon, line 60, in getWordIdList * Module ZODB.Connection, line 562, in setstate * Module ZODB.Connection, line 601, in _set_ghost_state UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode bytes in position 40-45: unsupported Unicode code range Looking at ZODB.Connection, I see it is related to cPickle... Not easy to debug ! I am not fluent in German, but could guess the main points of the discussion. The production machine runs a Redhat 9. The setup is quite complicated (with CMF/CPS, LDAP connections and such, so hard to reproduce). This doesn't seem to happen when LDAP is disabled, but I'm not sure of this. Andreas Jung, contacted directly, doesn't think this is directly related to TextIndexNG2, but maybe the ZODB level. He has never encountered this problem directly. I noticed this only happens on indexes where the stemmer is enabled. The code looks like this : def toUTF8(s): if not isinstance(s, UnicodeType): s = unicode(s, default_encoding) return s.encode('utf-8') def fromUTF8(s): return unicode(s, 'utf-8').encode(default_encoding) It is not fully symmetric, as toUTF8 might accept non Unicode strings, whereas fromUTF8 always returns a Unicode string. Could this be a problem in our case ? After all, TextOndexNG without stemming works fine, so maybe it has nothing to do with this. Does someone has ideas on how to debug this further ?
