zope 2.7.0 hang on hpux 11.00

I have installed Zope 2.7.0 in hpux 11.00 with python 2.3.3 compiled with gnu gcc 3.3.2 Zope start normally and it seems to be ok. But if I select, in the root folder, error_log or standard_template.pt, it hangs. The processes are run normally and then state of the port (8080) seems ok. cmf 1.4.5 and zope 2.7.x

Using the ports collection in freebsd I installed zope 2.7.2. Then when to install cmf 1.4.5 also from the ports collection. Zope is running fine. when making cmf though I get an error : =========== Compiling /usr/ports/www/zope-cmf/work/CMF-1.4.5/CMFDefault/skins/generic/truncID.py ... SyntaxError: 'return' outside function ========== and I can't tell whether this is critical or not. Anyone using zope from the ports collection? manage_addFile - getting DTML method results as file input

I have a DTML method 'resource_xml' that produces an XML file. Plone/Zope?: KeyError when creating MyArticle and SimpleBlog

Greetings folks, I'm new to zope/plone so apologies if this has a simple fix, but I've run into a problem that is still leaving me vexed even after large amounts of searching google. I recently installed SimplgBlog on my Plone Site and was having troubles getting it to work. When ever I'd create a new blog entry I'd get an error (see below). But then if I viewed the folder content the doc for this new entry was there and I could edit it no problem. Getting the blog working wasn't too high of a priority so I just left things in that state but then later, I was messing around and trying to learn more about how to develop in plone, particularly how to use Archetypes, and was working through the article http://www.zopemag.com/Issue006/Section_Articles/article_IntroToArchteypes.… I got this mostly working, but when I create an instance of this new "article" doc type I get the exact same behavior (even the same error message) as the one which occuring with SimpleBlog. So it seems my problem lies somewhere with the Archtype stuff, but I haven't been able to glean anything useful from the error message and/or searching google, so if anyone can give me an idea of how to go about fixing this or just learning more I would much appreciate it. silva and plone-cmf

has anyone done a quick comparison of plone/cmf and silva. I just installed silva and it seems really slick... and performs faster than plone... But looking in the freebsd ports collection it doesn't look like plone has been put in to run with zope 2.7.2 and python 2.3.4 -- so silva looks better all the time. Still, I know a little more about plone than silva. Zope 2.7 core file - leak?

Using Zope 2.7 under Plone 2.0.2 on Solaris One of our developers noticed a problem with Zope leak see below - has anyone else noticed this? Is this patched with newest version Zope 2.7.2 -------- I noticed that since zope 2.7.x (which is different from 2.6 architecture). It is always got crushed without notification. For example, when I click a folder, in the folder, if I click the head to sort the files by date. A "core" file will be created in the zope server's bin directory and the zope server is crushed. Is this a bug in 2.7.x? Do you know that is anyway that I can read this "core" file (it is in binary format). --------- Thanks -Bill

ZopeX3 3.0.0 beta 2 released

Release date: July 29, 2004 The Zope 3 development team is proud to announce the second beta release of Zope X3 3.0.0. Zope X3 is the next major Zope release and has been written from scratch based on the latest software design patterns and the experiences of Zope 2. The "X" in the name stands for "experimental", since this release does not try to provide any backward-compatibility to Zope 2. Downloads http://zope.org/Products/ZopeX3 Installation instructions for both Windows and Un*x/Linux are now available in the top level README.txt of the distribution. The binary installer is recommended for Windows. Changes since beta 1 - Separated the trusted and untrusted behaviors of page templates in the application server. File-system-based templates are trusted, and database-based templates are untrusted. - Improved using documentation files as tests. (Needed to test new security policy): Changed !DocFileSuite: o If a package is passed, it must be passed as a keyword argument. (For now, a package can also be passed before passing any file names, but this generates a deprecation warning.) o File paths may contain '/'s as separators. These will be converted to native file separators at run time. o It is now possible to pass set-up and tear-down methods o It is now possible to pass a dictionary of initial global variables. o Error output is improved as is meta data used for verbose output. - Fixed issue 248. Path expressions in page templates that contain empty segments now cause an error to be raised when the expression is compiled rather than when it is evaluated. This has always been illegal according to the specification, and most often caused a runtime error before. Template authors can now get an error up front, avoiding embarrasment when once an application is moved into production after insufficient testing. - Fixed the default 'text/*' content type for file objects. Backport of the fix for bug 201. - Changed the security policy: o Fix a bug (actually a missfeature). It wasn't possible for local settings to override global (zcml) settings. o Changed the way role denies work. A role deny simply prevents a principal from having a role. A principal may still have access through other roles or through principal grants. Role grants or denies never override principal grants or denies *even* if the role-based grants or denies are more local. o Implemented a caching scheme that provides huge performance benefits when the authenticated principal is defined in a local auth service, rather than a global one (zcml). - Fixed bug in !TypeRegistry for zope.app.publisher.browser.globalbrowsermenuservice which allows passing classes instead of interfaces as well but has a missing import. - A monkey patch to cope with weakref problems in Python 2.3.3 was removed, so Python 2.3.4 is required now. - Views for I18nFile/I18nImage now use the contentType attribute instead of outdated getContentType method. Goals The API is frozen for X3.0.0. We would like to ask all people to test this release and report any bugs or mis-behaviors! The entire beta period will likely last for about 2 months. During this time we will try to complete the following tasks: - Fix outstanding bugs. - Optimize critical components to speed up the system. - Write and update documentation. - Add and complete translations. - Remove as many XXX comments as possible. No-cache

Hello everyone, I've been trying to get a new navigation system working that uses cookies to change what data is viewed. Because of the way the system works, I want to force a page refresh every time a page is displayed. If the user presses the back button, I want to refresh the page. If I use JavaScript to go back two pages, I want the pages refreshed. This seems like a pretty simple thing to do. All you need to do is disable the caching of the pages. There's a lot of information on the web about it. The only problem is, I can't get anything to work. So far, I've tried putting some meta tags in the head statement. I've various combinations of; <meta http-equiv="expires" content="-1"> <meta http-equiv="expires" content="0" <meta http-equiv="expires" content="Wed, 26 Feb 1997 08:21:57 GMT"> <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache"> <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache"> <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-store"> No combination of the above have worked on either Firebird or IE6. I was able to get a JavaScript routine that forced a refresh if a cookie was not present and then cleared the cookie out but it forced a double load on new pages. Some of the documentation I've been able to find mentions that the no-cache stuff only works with HTTP1.1 and that is controlled by the server. Most of the documentation I've been able to find on the subject is years old. My questions are; What version of HTTP does Zope use? Is there any way to change it? Is there some setting on the Zope server that I can use to turn off all caching? Anyone have any other idea why the above doesn't work? Thanks! Joe Goldthwaite
