SharedResource insight ?

Hi everyone. We are looking for some product to provide a cache shared between all the threads in Zope, and I think we could use the SharedResource (see http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/SharedResource.html) module for such a purpose. This cache will mantain objects built from an SQL database. However, we have some doubt regarding Zope transactions and cache management. Indeed, the commit/rollback process is ok with the SQL db: if the sql transaction fails, the whole zope transaction fails and nothing is stored anywhere. However, how could we manage this with SharedResource? Consider that, at first, we are not going to put zope objects inside such a cache. How could we remove such objects at the abort of the transaction? Or should the objects be put in the cache only at the end of the transaction itself? I have an application that allows individuals to manage the content of their own web pages on our site. I have a 'sign in' page (a form) which allows them to enter their name and password. On submit I need to process the information and then take the user to his/her management page. Is there a straightforward way of doing this? Kate

ZSyncer setup (errors ??)

I'm testing out ZSyncer tool between two Plone sites. Same versions of software on both machies - one is OS X, other Debian. ZSyncer is 0.5.1 The ZSyncer object is in the root of both machines. I get the error below, no matter which machine I test it out from. In the 'Things to Check' notes on the error, I see the user string is empty. I've tried it both leaving it blank, or hard coding the 'admin' user account name /pw in the 'override user' flag. Admin uid and pw is same on both machines. trying to do some developing

It seems I still don't get the philosophy of Zope/web application development. How do I know what objects exists when a script I wrote run, and what classes those objects belong to and what methods does classes have... that is, the functionality I have. In php I just had a bunch of variables printable by phpinfo() and/or print_r (a print all command) to inspect structures and so on... dir() doesn't work in zope, so, I don't have the standard python way of doing this. My current questions are: 1) How do I get my username and related information ? 2) How do I add more methadata to users, like name and e-mail ? 3) How do I list folders that are owned by the logged in user ? 4) How do I redirect the browser to another page ? What I do in this case is put bogus fields into the record object Select a, b, '' as new_field1, '' as new_field2 from table where yada yada The new_field1 and new_field2 are then members of the object I can do what I want with, even re-cast them as new types. Accessing the id attribute of an input element

Hello. Is there a way to access the value of the id attribute of an input element? I have an input element which serves as a submit button for a form. The following is my code: <input type="submit" id="button1" name="button" value="Add" /> I know how to access the value of the button but is there a way to access the value of the id attribute using REQUEST.form? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Asad
