Searching Catalog for Unicode Values of FieldIndex

I am disappointed to find out that FieldIndex does not support Unicode values. While searching a catalog for a FieldIndex which has a value out of ASCII range, one would encounter the following error: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xd9 in position 0: ordinal not in range(128) The interesting point is that the object has been indexed in the catalog with the proper Unicode value but you can not search the index with this value. I wonder why a very old message at: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2001-November/104636.html suggests that FieldIndex supports Unicode. I could also find a message reporting the same problem (*with full traceback*) on the list. Andreas Jung propose to change the encoding of Python to solve it: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2003-February/131252.html While changing the default encoding can suppress the exception, the search results are empty making the catalog useless. (I changed it to iso-8859-2). Anyway I am not sure, I like to change the encoding of the python just to get the desired value for FieldIndex. I wonder if there is any chance to use FieldIndex with Unicode values. Perhaps there are some other Index products which support Unicode values. Or should one write his own Index if he wants a Unicode aware FieldIndex. Cheers, Mohsen,

ZNavigator product for file system based site

hi all, i have a site which has been developed ZMI(Zope2.6.1), now i wanted to move the entire code to file system. so i have dumped everything onto FS using zodb2fs.py. now i have used products like the znavigator in the site, and there are navigator objects in each of the role based folder hierarchy of the site to give the relevant menu. ie using the znavigator product i had created infobar objects where in one can specify the name of the menu item and the url to point to, now what do i need to do and how to move the znavigator onto FS. plz let me know if anyone needs further info for the solution. cheers -- ===================================================== Rakesh Naidu (Rocky) Sr.Software Engineer. unicode properties

I have a set of unicode properties which values are mostly plain letters in latin-1. However from time to time these properties contains special characters. (u201d,u201c,u2019) When using the property utext, it displays just fine, but when iterating over a property of type ulines, it just displays questionmarks (?) where my special characters shuld be. <dtml-in unicodelines> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> What must i do to get the ulines converted? Simple Structured Text

Forgive me if I'm being a bit dim, but I've searched high and low for this... I'd like to create some simple pages using Structured Text. Am I right in thinking Zope supports this out of the box? I'm not using ZWiki, or Plone, or CMF. I may use some or all of these in the future, but right now I have a nice ZPT-based site and I want people to be able to put some STX-based content up there... Zope 2.7 zopectl problem

I would like to update or insert multiple records to a single table using one form. The form could have, say, possibilities for up to 25 row entries. Is this possible using Zope? WH

Zope says ZEO_client added BTreeFolder2 has broken product

Hi, I am using a ZEO Client script to add a new BTreeFolder2-1.0.1. The folder is added ok, and populated ok. Through the ZEO-client I inspect the new added folder, and it is fine. But when I check through Zope ZMI interface, it says: 'mybtreef2 (This object from the unknown product is broken!)' If I add the BTreeFolder2 from ZMI (instead of ZEO Script), the folder is displayed correctly. So I guess I'm adding this folder the wrong way. I'm not sure what your env vars are doing to your python environment, but I had no problems doing that INSTANCE__HOME fix, just made sure that I was running the Python instance that was installed by Zope, and none of my other Python libraries etc were involved.
