Zope X3 vs. Zope 2.7.4

Hey there. I was wondering what is the difference between Zope X3 and Zope 2.7.4. They seem to be two stable release lines (much like Apache has) and I'm trying to figure out which one I should use. Thanks, Christian G.

Ape and Zope 2.7.x

Hello, I am trying to install Ape on my Windows XP box. I use Zope 2.7 (2.7.0 I think it is) and Ape 1.0, with Instance Homes. Before attempting to install Ape, I made sure that the Zope install and the instance home worked. After putting Ape in the $INSTANCE/Products folder, adding the FS-mapper configuration part from components.xml to zope.conf: %import Products.Ape <ape-db fs> <ape-storage> mapper-variation filesystem <ape-fs-connection fs> basepath $INSTANCE/var/myfs </ape-fs-connection> </ape-storage> mount-point /fs scan-interval 10 </ape-db> and then I try to restart Zope, but get the following error: Error: could not load package Products.Ape: No module named Ape For help, use C:\Program Files\Plone 2\Zope\lib\python\Zope\Startup\run.py -h so, apparently it can't find the Products folder or the Ape module in it. url path remainder as a script parameter?

I'm trying to provide a Zope interface for an existing photo album application that has an XML-RPC interface. The application contains a very large number of pictures that can by queried in various ways (time, event, featured people, etc.). I do not want to create Zope folders, but I do want the URLs to suggest that the pictures are stored in a folder hierarchy. For instance: http://abc.com/photos - this is root of photo archive http://abc.com/photos/<person> - a person-specific photo album - presenting available years http://abc.com/photos/<person>/<year> - a person-specific, year-specific album - presenting available months http://abc.com/photos/<person>/<year>/<month> - a person-specific, month-specific album - presenting available days http://abc.com/photos/<person>/<year>/<month>/<day> - a person-specific, day-specific album - presenting available thumbs http://abc.com/photos/<person>/<year>/<month>/<day>/<pic number> - a pic... It seems clear that I need to add a something to the Zope root having the id "photos", but is it a Python Script or a Product? I tried creating a Product and setting the __getitem__ method, but it didn't work. While I know the Zope-way is to store the objects in the Zope database, surely what I am trying to do is not uncommon either - so how do people normally do this? Thanks! Kent

I have a system running Zope generating .pdf using the reportlabs lib. How can I put this files available to download? Because I'm attaching the file to a e-mail and sending a message to the user.
