I am trying to get the re module into zope I have created a folder in the products folder called GlobalModules I have created a __init__.py in this folder it contains: from Products.PythonScripts.Utility import allow_module allow_module('re') This allows the import to work and the line: matchstr = re.compile(r"""\D""") # search for non numbers Zope does not error on the above line. however it does not like: phone_primary = matchstr.sub(r'',phone_primary) # remove non numbers for the string The error is Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access 'sub' in this context How do I get the matchstr.sub to work? Problems getting started with zope3

I thought "interfaces" is the file "interfaces.py" in the same directory as configure.zcml... Why doesn't it complain about not finding "foo" if I change it? Maybe you should request an export then. Ghost objects and memory usage

Hi all, I have a very long running process which causes the Zope process to eventually eat up all the RAM in my PC. I have tried changing the object cache sizes to no avail. Zope sticks to the cache parameters fairly well (it doesn't overshoot the target by much). The number of ghost objects do keep on increasing, however. Does a ghost object use the full amount of RAM (for that typical type of object) or is it only an empty shell? How do I get Zope to delete/unload these objects manually? B.t.w. I have tried numerous ways to do the long running process including: One thread that get_transaction().commit() every now and again Get new thread, do a few transactions, commit, close thread, wash, rinse, repeat (yes, I know the pitfalls with opening new threads into Zope - I end up reusing one connector from the pool over and over again). The above made no difference to the fact that eventually, memory will run out. The process makes changes to many objects and creates many new objects. It takes a long time to complete (typically a day or more). If I know the ghost objects does not use up memory, I can hunt for memory leaks in my own code, but currently the only thing that increases and increases is the number of ghost objects. Zope service stopped

Hi, I have a problem. I'm running Zope on Windows 2K and one day it just didn't want to start. There is no info in zope or system log. It just dosn't start. I tried to install a new fresh Zope-2.7.4 installation, change ports it's running, reinstall a service. No change. Of course runzope.bat starts without a problem :] I found some info about the same problem, but not a clear answer. The only suggested solution was to check entry in registry. I did so. Everything seems to be fine. And I just found that: >PythonService.exe -debug Zope_myzopeservicenumber works fine! Any ideas? Pawel Lewicki

ZInformixDA problem

Hi everybody, this is my first email to the list. I'm trying to install ZInformixDA on Zope2.7.3 and python 2.3, and in the README says that I need the informixdb1.3 package. I've download the package but when I do the make and make install this is the error reported: make: *** No rule to make target 'boot'. Stop Has anybody some experience on this case? Thanks, Nico

Can't access my zope product functions by URL

I have made my first attempts on developing my own products in Python and I have a problem I can't find any solution to. My problem is that I can't access functions in my product by the URL. I have tried to find what's wrong for several days now, but I can't really find anything. I have used the boring-product example product as base for my tries and my initialization is pretty much the same. My "__init__.py" file registers a class called RSSFeed and just as the boring-product it currently only contains functions to add the object to the Zope object-DB, view the object and change the title. When the user changes the title it uses a form that calls the function manage_edit(). The problem is that when I do that I get a 404 error telling that the file "http://www.myserver.org/test/myobject/manage_edit" doesn't exist. What makes my hair fading to gray is that my code for this is almost identical to the boring-product example and there it works! One major difference is that I call the "security.declareProtected()" function to register my function and boring-product uses an "__ac_permissions__" list instead. But I declare my function access rights just as all other products I've looked at. Also other functions I make in my product and declares the same way gives the 404 error. One interesting thing is that I can call them from inside my index.dtml file for the product, by doing <dtml-var function>-calls. I guess I have missed something with the security settings, but I can't find what it is. Please help me if you can, I am getting insane trying to find it myself.
