LocalFS and application/octet-string download problem

Hello, I have a download folder mapped using LocalFS, there were no problems with downloading documents (html,txt) from that directory but there is with programs like setup.exe. When I wget the file I receive a file with the following content: <open file '/home/zoperunner/zopeinstance_1/download/setup.exe', mode 'rb' at 0x42419f4c> instead of the setup file. Log is OK -- 127.0.0.1 56076 - - [16/Feb/2005:12:50:38 +0200] "GET /download/setup.exe" 200 220 "" "Wget/1.5.3" Any hints? Thanks in advance, rk.

programatically adding acl user folder

Greets; Found a nice program on the net that allows me to import users from another app via xml-rpc and programatically create a new acl user folder in zope. Now while this works seemlessly in 2.6.4 in 2.7x it functions however I cannot enter the folder regardless of what role I have, from the ZMI. Digging around in the code I find this statement at the very end. ---------------------------- security.declareProtected(ManageUsersPermission,'getUser') def getUsers(self): """Return a list of user objects""" return map(self.getUser,self.getUserNames()) ---------------------------- Further digging on the net to try and get an understanding of this, I find Dieters comments here; http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope-dev/2002-January/014715.html with a summary of " "declareProtected" requires the wrapping" Im wondering if this is the source of the problem or do I need to look elsewhere? /ch

zopeXMLMethods and Zope 2.7.x

Hi All, It seems that zopeXMLMethods and Zope 2.7.x do not work correctly together. In fact, installed xml processors are not visible from ZopeXMLMethods object in ZMI (blank list). Personaly I use 4Suite 1.0a4 as processor. Everything work with Zope 2.7.2 but since Zope 2.7.3 every fail. Have you this problem, solutions ? I've patched zopeXMLMethods with the december proposition of zope mailing-list with no succes then the Thread stopped. DTML html_quoting my JavaScript

Hi, I've got myself into a problem with DTML. The system I've been working on uses a lot of JavaScript, which is stored in DTML methods. After 14 months of development, I have been asked to reproduce the installation on another machine, where, unlike the original installation, all my <dtml-variables> are html_quoted, rendering them useless. According to the Zope book, <dtml-vars> are always html_quoted. I know this is not the case because for over a year I could successfully store JavaScripts in DTML methods. Then there is no html_unquote function. I have considered just moving the data.fs file to the new installation but I don't want to do that because 1) I want to know why this problem arose and 2) It's future dated, so I can't pack this database without changing the system time to a future date. (if anyone knows how the date of the data.fs can be modified please let me know) I doubt I'm the first to use DTML to store JavaScript, so if anyone out there knows how to stop it systematically wrecking the code, could you please please please send me some advise. Illegal page template footer

Hi all, I want to have a set of header/footer page templates with a table element opening in the header and closing in the footer, for global formatting reasons. Of course, Zope complains that there is no opening <td> tag to match the closing </td> tag and using macros doesn't help. Will I have to use a python script to print the text, or is there a way to fool Zope into thinking the code is legal? And please don't mention dtml... Thanks, Chris

Please reply to the list. 1. If you enter the full Zope path - bypassing the rewrite rule into your browser, do you get the desired result? If not, the rewrite rule isn't your problem and you're parsing your querystring badly. 2. Have you switched on the rewrite log to see what the rewrite is doing with your URLs? If it's not creating the full Zope path you need, then the rule needs fixing. Call me an over-simplifying old fool but I can't see how it can be other than one of these. Using ZEO for remote access

I want to use Zope as an application server and was thinking to connect to Zope from the clients, by using ZEO. This will give me remote access to the objects in a more powerfull way than using XML-RPC. I have tried the following code to get a connection to a running ZEO instance (the setup works, as a Zope Instance can connect to the ZEO server): from ZEO.ClientStorage import ClientStorage cs = ClientStorage([('localhost', 9999)]) The code blocks at the creation of the ClientStorage and never returns. Am I on the right path, or is there a better way to connect to a running ZEO instance from Python code? Thanks Etienne
