Database not in sync for days ?

Hello again, I have some more info about my Data.fs not in sync for days. The person responsible for the Solaris server told me that he couldn't find more recent Data.fs from his incremental backup than the one from the 3rd of march (it should be daily backuped), it is as if the system (zope) hadn't touch the Data.fs file ??? Since this weekend crash, I restarted zope this morning, the instance was running for 7 hours and the Data.fs had not changed its size, whereas the Data.fs.tmp had grown to 147Mb (many persons importing backup, I guess) => I went to the "Control_Panel/Database/temporary/manage_main" it was mentionned to be 0.0K ! => I went to the "Control_Panel/Database/main/manage_main" it took a long time and the size of my 2.7Gb (this morning) had grown upto 3.0Gb => I went back to a term and found out that the Data.fs.tmp had shrunk to 0 byte and Data.fs had effectively grown over 3Gb. Does zope keep a buffer in Data.fs.tmp ? And could it be that one has to open (manually) the "Control_Panel/Database/main/manage_main" to flush this tmp buffer to the Data.fs ? Is the "Control_Panel/Database/temporary/manage_main" the one in relation with the Data.fs.tmp ? Thank you in advance! serge

A more logical approach might be sending a message from the workflow. sessions in zope

Hi all: I want to create user sessions in zope with credentials taken from an authentication form and data about the user taken from a PostgreSQL database. I know that Zope2.5 and later bring with something to do this like CoreSessionTracking, and exist some extra products like: SQLSession, HappySession, FSSession (I don't know any else) In any case, Where I find any documentation about how use any of them in zope with ZPT? and which one use?. I review in the zope.org page the how-tos, the articles, the books, but i don't found nothing. If anybody can guide me to the research, or have any opinion about which one use (the most important issue) and how, I will appreciate. thanks in advance

Hi, I am developing a content management system based on plone.I have a requirement which is, " whenever an update occurs in the plone site ,a message containing the place of update should be sent to all the members of the site." I have got two ideas,i don't know whether it works 1>to query the Data.fs and retrieve data( i.e the object which has been updated) from it and send it to all the members. 2>go to ZMI and in the portal_skins/plone_form_scripts/ go to content_status_modify(handles the workflow transitions of objects) and include a code over here such that the objects which have been updated should be found and a message should be sent to all the members. Now,my question is whether if any of the above can be done(i.e is it possible to query Data.fs while the site is up) or is there any other solution for my requirement?If anyone knows an answer to this please give me an idea on how to do this and if possible send me a code example. Connection to MySQL in zope product

Hi, I plan to develop a product that make use of external database (MySQL). I tried to get some reference on this in internet, but to no avail. How can i do this?. I understand that with python script or dtml we need to create database connection object, and zsql method. But how do we do it from product class?. Zope 2.7.4 - ZClass Permissions Change?

I have a few ZClass products that no longer allow me to add new objects and it is new since Zope2.7b4. It is happening with a few products like SimpleURL and KnowledgeKit and I am getting errors like: "Unauthorized: You are not allowed to access 'blah' in this context" It could be a method, a list or ZopeTime. Installing Photo and Photo Folder 1.2.4 Under Plone 2.0.4 on Mac OS 10.3.8

Hi Everyone, I'm running a Plone 2.0.4 site under Mac OS 10.3.8 and am having trouble getting it to notice when I drop the Photo and Photo Folder 1.2.4 product folder into the Products folder of the site in question (of course I restart the server every time). I don't know my way around the ZMI terribly well but looking at Plone's product install area it doesn't show up (I didn't expect it to since it's not written specifically for Plone, but the Plone easy install is great) but neither can I find it in the Products listing under the control panel in the ZMI. It doesn't even show up as broken in there. Am I missing an install step? I'm pretty sure I followed the install instructions, which actually only said to drop it in the Products directory (I do modify ownership and permissions after putting it there). Of course I am restarting Plone/Zope each time. Another note, I do have the CMSPhoto and CMSPhotoFolder products installed and working so I wonder if there is a conflict. I did remove them once for purposes of testing this, but I'm not sure I removed EVERYTHING they might have done to the site. This product actually does a lot of what I was wanting to do with photos on my site so I'd really love to get it working. The next question will be how to convert all my photos and preserve the metadata which reflects a huge amount of work! Thanks much, Tom Harris
