Thanks yuan. i finally got it . I think i'll be much happier and productive with ZPTs. In the body tag define: <body tal:define="doDistrict request/districtname|nothing"> this was for 1st dropdown list ; <select name=districtname style="HEIGHT: 22px; WIDTH: 185px" onchange="user10()"> // in user10() i submit the form explicitly. <option name="selectDistrict" selected> <div tal:repeat="district container/getDistrict"> <option tal:content="district/district_name"></option> </div> </select> 2nd drop down list : <select name=username style="HEIGHT: 22px; WIDTH: 185px" tal:condition="doDistrict" <div tal:repeat="user python:context.getDistrictUser(districtname=request.form['districtname'])"> <option tal:content="user/username"></option> </div> </select> That got rid of the error. I was wondering whether in my Python script getDistricUser i could also, by default, assume that i'm passing in districtname. Then I cud just say <div tal:repeat="user here/getDistrictUser"> which is more pleasing to the eye. By saying "or nothing" when I define variable doDistrict I can then test for it later. And it evaluates to false on the first pass. So any tips.

CMF -1-5-0

Hi list, I downloaded cmf-1-5.0.zip and installed it into Zope 2.75b1 Zope_Instance/Products directory. Afer rebooting I was surprised to see it wasn't listed as a Product so I look in Products\CMF-1.50 and there is no __init__.py. Isn't that how products are recognized? I feel I'm missing something obvious :-0 Also I'm having trouble locating CMF documentation. Any recommendations? Thanks, David

You don't HAVE to, but the optimal configuration is to have one interpreter per CPU, yes. So if you start an instance, you should bind it to a specific CPU. It'll work fine even if you don't do it, but performance won't be optimal. I've moved away from multi-cpu machine for my Zope because of this, makes things much easier. I suggest a different approach to this problem. Instead of priming the option lists in a page template try the following: 1. put only <option value="selectdistrict" selected> in the select lists. 2. put the data in Javascript arrays: districts = new Array("district1", "district2") districts["district1"].users=new Array("UserName1", "Username2"), districts["district2"].users=new Array("UserName3", "Username4") 3. Use onLoad to prime the districts options (use a function to add options in districts array) and onClick to change the Username options. Some people might suggest that sending a list of usernames is a bad idea. Leaving that bit out would save you a lot of work and avoid the accessibility issue with onClick. Cliff P.S. SMP and Zope.

Folks, A guy told me that to use FULL SMP with Zope, I must make a Zope instance for each processor. Is this information correct? I already install ZEO on this machine, but to instance multiple Zope I need to change the ports do 8081, 8082 and so on... I didn't fully trust this guy opnion, anyway I want to confirm it. Thanks to Chris for response me, and I want that him excuse me, because I have an imprecision, and I feel very embarrassed because in the "The Zope Book (2.6 Edition) Amos Latteier, Michel Pelletier, Chris McDonough, Peter Sabaini" the example is: " pt = context.hello_world_pt s = pt(name="John Doe") return s " And I asume that when I call a ZPT without parameters is: "return context.hello_world_pt", whereas whit parameters are same that the example. In spite of the above the "return context.hello_world_pt" in some cases works ok, and in others case return the zope object reference, instead of make a call to the object (in this case a ZPT). Does Zope support HTTP Trace method??

Greetings All, In a lot of HTTP servers there is a method used for debugging sessions and such called TRACE. Does Zope support this?? And if so is it active, or inactive by default?? How can I turn this on and off?? Jay

Ya u got me this time abzlutli but i'm jus not getting it. looks like there is something else. the define code dint work.i'm still getting the same error.
