Hi all I'm trying to reduce big image uploadfile with PIL But I have a little problem: I know the size of the uploadfile (moving the file pointer with read() and then tell()) but I need to create a PIL.Image object and for that I need to know the Image size (with and heigh) There are any kind of method to know these issue? Post authentication hook and anonymous users

Hi Zope people, I have been using Dieter Maurer's Post authentication hook quite successfully to restrict access to a folder for a group of users. Now, my problem is that Post authentication hook is only called... for authenticated users (as its name implies). That's a problem for me, because anonymous users that can guess a URL could access private areas that I have set up. (BTW, I am aware that I could restrict the access by changing the "View" permission in the "Security" tab and remove "Acquired", but that's not good enough: it then shows all documents to authorized users, regardless of their worflow state). Anyway, I am thinking of adding an unvalidated_hook call in ZPublisher/BaseRequest.py, something like: if user is not None: if validated_hook is not None: validated_hook(self, user) request['AUTHENTICATED_USER']=user request['AUTHENTICATION_PATH']='/'.join(steps[:-i]) else: unvalidated_hook(request) And then in unvalidated_hook, I would dynamically check if anonymous users can access the current folder. Am I on the right tracks or is there a built-in functionality in Zope to accomplish what I am trying to do?? Advice and pointers are welcome. Cheers Cyrille

jonathan sir , thanks for that detailed solution. but i guess my problem was simpler. i cudnt explain it properly . below is the code for the html page generated by C_login.asp . I've to rebuilt this page in zope and as u'll see i've alraedy the javascript functionality that u've mentioned in 3rd soln. but the javascript is not at all being executed in zope. it will obviously give error asa u select some district coz the original asp is not there. Ne We this is wat i wanted : as soon as i select a district the the corresponding user list in next combobox sud appear.the data are being fetched from Mysql using the ZSQL queries. AND CAN WE ANYWAY USE JAVASCRIPT IN DTML DOCUMENTS. please tell me the soln in ZOPE. Expand macros in a file system based page template

When editing a page template directly in ZMI, there is an "Expand macros when editing" option allowing me to see the page template source with all macros expanded. This feature is quite handy in tring to understand complex macros. However, if the page template is based on FSDV, this feature is no longer available. problem using ssl from zope

Hi, In my product I try to connect to a remote https-server with the help of httplib HTTPSConnection. Blocking Sibling inheritance

Greetings all, I am in the process of examining Zope for some possible applications. Currently I am having an issue with Zope being a bit to smart. I have a directory \Dir1\ and under it I have 2 subdirectories \Dir1\SubA\ and \Dir1\SubB\. The problem I am having is I can go to \Dir1\SubA\SubB\ and gain access to things that are in \Dir1\SubB\, I need to be able to block sibling level inheritance. Is this possible in Zope?? Or are there any other ways to block this with out creating a SubB object in \Dir1\SubA\ ?? Thanks for any and all help Jay

Hi, I've just takes over a site that runs Zope - the site currently uses flatfile html files. Is it possible to run PHP pages/scripts from zope? if so how? Has anyone out there done it? I'd really appriciate any feedback/help! Dafydd.

Hanging Zope

We have been having intermittent problems with zope hanging in both production and development. For what it's worth, it seems as if this problem started to occur since we upgraded to zope 2.7.3 (python 2.3.4) and Apelib 1.0. Previously, we were using a standard zope data.fs. We converted to Apelib for other reasons and now are starting to see these intermittent lockups. When it locks up, it is completely locked and has to be killed with a kill -9. Are there any other tricks to find where or what is locking the threads? Even though I'm running in debug mode, killing does not produce a traceback.
