Hi I have a form where I ask user to upload .doc files. This .doc files are stored as a file in ZODB.I have a page where I show the list of files user uploaded.When the user clicks on any of the file the browser asks the user to download the file.Now what I want is when the user clicks on the file ,a preview of the entire file must be seen in the browser and there would be download link present from where the user can download the file. classmethod() and zope?

hi! i have the following method defined in an extension class: def reInitClass(cls): """ docstring """ cls().reInit() reInitClass = classmethod(reInitClass) as one can see this method should call the parameter named "cls" and this way make an instance of cls and then call reInit() on this instance... i'd like to call this method in the __init__.py file of my product: def initialize(registrar): registrar.ViewContainer( ViewContainer, constructors = (addViewContainerForm, addViewContainerMethod) ) ViewContainer.reInitClass() starting zope with these files in place yields the following error message: File "/home/apis/zope-bliss01/Products/ViewContainer/__init__.py", line 10, in initialize ViewContainer.reInitClass() TypeError: 'classmethod' object is not callable wtf??? if a classmethod object is not callable, what is it for then? a simple python example with classmethod() did work of course - so am i trying something impossible in zope? thanks in advance for your replies... regards, juergen herrmann

ZODB issues

Hello, I have installed a new instance of zope 2.7.4. I have brought in a Data.fs file from another ISP. I don't know exactly what version this file is from, but I am fairly sure its some 2.x version. My question(s) is what to do next, I am new to zope, but I have tried a lot of things. The basic problem is that the btree structure of the interesting part of the site is broken (perhaps corrupt).I can start and run the server, and browse through the control panel, and perform various administrative tasks. The top level index_html file is just a redirect to the site1 folder structure, which is the one that is broken. You won't have any problem learning Python - a _language_. Be prepared, however, to readjust your notions of how applications are built, when switching to Zope. In Zope, there is a lot more going on behind the scenes between the incoming http request and the execution of your scripts/pages (compared to PHP). There is also a big difference in how you deploy your app(s) - for example, unless you are using Zope "Products" or "External Methods", you can pretty much say goodbye to the idea of files containing code. And unless you don't need control over RDBMS transactions, you'll want to avoid the Zope Database Adapters. Coming from PHP background years ago, I found these types of issues more difficult to adjust to than any language difference. That being said, Zope is as powerful/extensible as anything out there, plus it's Python, which you'll love once you try. People have hacked out ways to use PHP in Zope - I haven't tried any of them, but I can't imagine why you'd ever want to mix the two approaches. Stick PHP pages and a proxy to your Zope instance behind the same Apache if you have to have them "together". - Jim (supposed to be .02 but I only had a nickel) > But I'm willing to learn. Hello, Just wondering if anyone has any updates on the current plans for 2.8? I'm planning work for the next (fiscal) year for us, and I really could use new-style classes (To do multi-lingual objects) ... Is there a beta coming? A target date for a stable release? sir , thanks for that detailed solution. but i guess my problem was simpler. i cudnt explain it properly . below is the code for the html page generated by C_login.asp . I've to rebuilt this page in zope and as u'll see i've alraedy the javascript functionality that u've mentioned in 3rd soln. but the javascript is not at all being executed in zope. it will obviously give error as soonas u select some district coz the original asp is not there. but this is wat i wanted : as soon as i select a district the the corresponding user list in next combobox sud appear.the data are being fetched from Mysql using the ZSQL queries. ZMySQLDA uses the converter dictionary from MySQLdb, though it mostly bypasses MySQLdb. Since 1.0.0, MySQLdb returns BLOB columns as array(c,...), and previously it returned strings, so now it runs afoul of Zope, which expects a string. There is a section ZMySQLDA/db.py in the DB class that looks like this: conv=conversions.copy() conv[FIELD_TYPE.LONG] = int_or_long conv[FIELD_TYPE.DATETIME] = DateTime_or_None conv[FIELD_TYPE.DATE] = DateTime_or_None conv[FIELD_TYPE.DECIMAL] = float del conv[FIELD_TYPE.TIME] You should add a line after this: del conv[FIELD_TYPE.BLOB] This will cause it to return BLOBs as strings.
