I'm using the book The Book of Zope: How to Build and Deliver Web Applications to learn Zope. I'm on the chapter on Versions. Neither the book nor Zope documentation explains exactly how to create a version. Thank you in advance for your help.

String Replacement Function

Is it possible to replace more than 1 type of character in a string simultaneously? If so, what is the correct syntax for this? I am currently using the following: <dtml-var "_.string.replace(testString, _.chr(10), '<br />')"> For this string, I want to replace both newlines and carriage returns (_.chr(13)) with the break tag. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

Helpdesk/Call Logging in Plone

I'm looking for ideas on how to implement a call logging/helpdesk ticketing system utilizing Plone. Any ideas? Before everyone responds "try PloneCollector," I'm looking into it. However, I need some ideas, as I'm new to Plone (researched last couple weeks and installed yesterday). I'm not looking for anything sophisticated, but useful. I also saw a posting on the sf list that mentioned "mailmanager," so I'm looking into that, too. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. -aa

Hi. I've posted this in more detail before, but the general processs i've been using to update Zope lately is: # Backup <path-to>/Data.fs # Put the new zope tarball somewhere like... cd /home/myhome/src/zope/276/<zopesrcname> gunzip <zopesrcname>.gz tar -xvf <zopesrcname>.tar mv <zopesrcname> zope276 cd zope276 #Assuming you want to put your new zope in /var #Assuming you have a recent python ./configure --prefix=/var/zope276 --with-python="/usr/bin/python2.3" make make install # Assuming your prior zope version is still running and that it # is installed as a service. service zopectl stop change references in /var/zope-instance/bin/zopectl change references in /var/zope-instance/bin/runzope service zopectl start # This way I can leave prior versions of zope on the system in # case I need to revert. For instance, I had lots of legacy # and Plone problems with 2.8 so went back to 2.76 by just # changing references in zopectl I hope that helps. As announced earlier elsewhere, Hurrah, Inc. will cease all Zope hosting activities effective August 12, 2005. I sincerely thank all the members and contributors of the Zope community, past and present, and especially Zope Corp for their creation and continued support of the Zope product. I've watched quietly from the sidelines as Zope and its supporters accomplished a lot in the last six years, and I wish all the best in the years to come. I'd also like to take this opportunity to say I'm a big fan of PCGI for stable, simple, shared Zope hosting. Yes, I'm the one, and it was used on every single Zope instance I ever had my hand in creating, including Zope 2.7 versions. BTreeFolder doubleclick patch

Shane (and the Zope list), I've patched your lovely BTreeFolder2 product (version 1.0.1) so that I can doubleclick on options in the dropdown instead of having to click the Edit button. This is using Javascript and if Javascript is disabled, nothing happens, it just goes back to what it was like before. I've attached two patch files that you can chose to include. PS. Breadcrumb dilemma

My apologies if this is easily found in the mail-list archives (I found no easy way to search that wealth of information). I feel silly asking this collective about such a simple question, but for the life of me, I'm completely stumped. I have implemented a Plone 2.x site for our public website, and have completely replaced all the standard Plone skin. When I felt comfortable with the front page design, I wanted to use the same look and feel for my subfolders. I created a new folder (company), added the appropriate images etc., and *voila* the new section has the section specific content I want. However, the breadcrumb trail will only display "you are here: home". I simply cannot figure out what I haven't included (or what I "killed" when I created my new skin) that will make the breadcrumb pick up the new folder (you are here: home > company). Thanks for any insight! Steve

Zope update

Hi, I want to update from Zope 2.7.4 to Zope 2.7.6 What is the easiest way? Unfortunately there is no description of how an update of Zope is done. I'm running Plone on it. I tried to newly install Zope 2.7.6 and then copied the backed-up Data.fs file and the content of the Products folder. It didn't work very well. There should be no version conflicts with Plone as I checked on the Plone web site. Thanks for any advice! Josef
