Hi I have problems moving Document Library instances. I get errors. The entire ZODB is 300MBs and the volume has more then 3Gigs free space. The problem occurs when trying to paste [I/O Error: not enough space on the device] the library (copy command seems to work) or import (export seems to work). apache 2, mod_deflate, mod_fastcgi, zope 2.7: something's slow.

Hello, It seems that if I use mod_deflate to compress zope's responses, I take a major hit -- around 1.4 seconds without compression and around 16.4 seconds with. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. I have zope 2.7.7 running with the fast-cgi ZServer enabled. Urls beginning with http://pkfinance.info/pkf-z1/ go to Zope. Hi Chris, Ooops... Reading your reply shows me that I was unclear ;) Zope will be the CMS system of the architecture (so it will render HTML). I only meant that it would get dynamic data using XML-RPC queries, but I already have an efficient product for this, so it's not an issue. So what they want is a Web Management Framework and CMS system. And they wonder if Zope is better than a JSP/Struts/Velocity solution. Don't get me wrong, I have been using Zope for almost 2 years now, I love it. The problem is that I don't do any Java development since then so I miss knowledge about Java evolutions in terms of Web Management Framework and CMS systems. So any links, advice, opinion, experience would be appreciated. Thanks a lot. Non-responsive folders

Hello everyone, Python 2.3.4 Zope 2.7.3 Apache 2.0.46 I have a website that has been running flawlessly since late last year sitting behind Apache using the usual rewrite rules. I've recently started experiencing some folders becoming non-responsive when trying to view them (e.g. http://www.someserver.com/somefolder) I can still access most other folders without a problem. When I hit an offending folder, I simply get no response and the browser just waits and waits. I haven't been able to establish a pattern as to what's behind the folders that might be causing the problem. On a clean start the problematic folders usually respond normally for awhile, then stop. So far, which folders stop responding are always the same. Zope's event.log shows a number of the following in case it is relevant: 2005-08-16T13:50:35 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing channel <ZServer.HTTPServer.zhttp_channel connected 127.0.0.1:40850 at 0xb2b5c5ec channel#: 6014 requests:> (socket.error:(104, 'Connection reset by peer') [/var/tmp/python2.3-2.3.4-root/usr/lib/python2.3/asynchat.py|initiate_send|218] [/usr/local/Zope/2.7.3/lib/python/ZServer/medusa/http_server.py|send|417] [/var/tmp/python2.3-2.3.4-root/usr/lib/python2.3/asyncore.py|send|337]) The problem occurs sporadically enough that I haven't been able to tell whether these lines from the event.log happen in conjunction with a non-responsive folder. I also see the occasional ZODB conflict error. Interestingly enough I can directly view the offending folders without a problem if I circumvent Apache (e.g. http://zope.someserver.com:8080/website/somefolder) As far as I can tell nothing has changed with my Apache configuration. At first I thought that maybe something had gotten screwed up with my Zope instance or data.fs (~1200MB), but since I can directly view the offending folders without a problem by skipping Apache, I'm starting to think otherwise. Restarting Zope *usually* temporarily clears the problem. Can anyone offer any suggestions for what might be going on or what other evidence I can look for? As a possible solution, I'm hastily preparing to upgrade to a more recent version of Zope, but I'd sure like to know what's suddenly gone wrong (especially since upgrading may not solve the problem). Basically, I can summarize the question I will have to answer this way : "why should we use Zope 2 instead of JSP/struts" ? All the business logic of the company is implemented in services that talk to backend and can be queried through xmlrpc (so this is fine for Zope integration). So the context is to use Zope or JSP/struts to manage the presentation layer. I am currently planning to talk about built-in ZMI and transaction management, TAL, ... Thanks a lot for your help. Well, creating a subfolder in the Products folder and putting an __init__.py there that does what you want should work. Plone doesn't show up in the Zope Interface - ./runzope issue

Hello This is my first experience of unix installs from source and I need a small amount of help to finish off my installation. I've installed Zope and Python from source, remotely, onto a RedHat box and am able to access the browser based ZMI admin screen remotely. I've followed the following instructions for getting Plone up and running but on stopping and starting the zope instance, Plone isn't available. I've tried stopping the service using the ZMI and restarting using telnet. 1. Download Plone 2 from http://www.plone.org/download, and select the tarball file. 2. Unzip the archive using the following: tar xzf CMFPlone2.0.tar.gz 3. You'll find that a directory has been created called CMFPlone-xxx, where xxx is the version (for example, CMFPlone-2.0). 4. Move the contents of that directory into your Zope installation's Product directory. For example, if the Zope Products directory is in /var/zope, then do this: mv CMFPlone2.0/ /var/zope/Products* The zope products directory is /home/zopeinstance/Products/ which lists Plone-2.0.5 I also have an issue where running /home/zopeinstance/bin/runzope using ./runzope as the zopeinstance user starts the service but the Unix prompt just hangs and doesn't do anything. I am able to get the browser management screen but on exiting the telnet session the service stops. Would anyone have any ideas at all? By the way ./start_zope and ./stop_zope from the core /zopeinstance directory don't seem to work. Thanks for any help Michael

zope.org site and limited search results

Dear zopistas, few times ago I was few times wrote to ZC webmaster about limited query to Zope Products search results (see attached picture) - in any case it does not find more than 200 results. Nothing to do. If somebody has enough power to initiate zope.org webmaster, please tell him about change number of results from database at "advanced" tab of appropriate ZSQL method (if it is not defined somewhere else). Note, that "old" zope site does not has this limit.
