Dynamic dictionary keys?

Allow me to preface this by saying I am a complete newbie to Zope (I prefer to think of it as beginner's mind...). What I am attempting to do is dynamically add items to a dictionary, but Zope complains "keyword can't be an expression". Here's the reduced case of my code: <dtml-let eventsDict="{}"> <dtml-let calstart="somestring"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set(eventsDict[calstart]=id)"> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> This kind of construct *seems* perfectly reasonable, yet it doesn't work. Packing data.fs programmatically

I am using the following module to pack my data.fs programmatically before a backup is made. This was largely taken out of the Zopelabs cookbook - thanks! ------------------------ def packZODB(): try: import os, sys os.chdir("/path/to/Zope/python") sys.path+=['/path/to/Zope/python/was/required/to/load/Zope/module'] import Zope Zope.configure("/path/to/zope.conf") app = Zope.app() app.Control_Panel.Database.manage_pack(days=0) get_transaction().commit() app._p_jar.close() return 1 except Exception, inst: for arg in inst.args: print "Oh dear! %s" % arg -------------------------- Now for the wierd bit. I successfully ran the code that went into this module line-by-line in the Python interpreter. The data.fs was beautifully packed. However, when I run this script from the command line (through another script that acts as a hook) the line "app = Zope.app()" fails with the error "No such file or directory". Now I am confused, coz the code lines that you would expect to fail if either of the required paths were not correct ran quite happily. I am running Python 2.3.5 and Zope 2.7. Dates off by one day

Recently moved to a new server farm and am having a problem with dates from MySQL that are rendered using strftime. The date in MySQL is correct (e.g. 2005-01-22) but if the date is rendered with strftime the date displayed is one day earlier (e.g., 2005-01-21). MySQL and Zope are on separate servers as they were before the switch to the new servers but this didn't happen in the old environment. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks, Kevin

Zope scheduling problem

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for my question. I'm running Zope 2.9.0 (though I've tried it on 2.8.5, with the same problem). I have a Python script in a Zope folder that checks a specified email address, packages all the emails and attachments, and adds them into a PloneArticle running on a Plone site. It finds the correct PloneArticle to add the item into, by doing a ZCatalog search (on the Plone portal_catalog). This works properly when I run the script myself. The user I run this as has the Manager role. I've set a proxy for the script so it runs as a Manager. However, when I set a ZopeScheduler to run this script, I get an error where the ZCatalog doesn't find any results when I search for the PloneArticle instance. Now the article I am searching for is catalogued, so I'm not sure why this is happening. This may be a problem with ZopeScheduler, or with Plone's catalog. Not sure which. Any assistance would be appreciated. Nick

Using ReStructuredText instead of StructuredDocument inside ZPT

Hello, I have been using the Structured Document (SD) product with page templates (to provide some content sections that a client can edit using structured text). Now I would like to use ReStructuredText Document (RSTD) instead of SD. I have been using code like this in a page template to render the content of a SD within the page template: ... <div metal:fill-slot="pagebody"> <p tal:content="structure container/client_content/vision_statement"> Vision Statement </p> </div>  ... ...where vision_statement is a SD object. I expected that this would work the same if vision_statement were a RSTD object...however it does not. What displays is only the unrendered, plain text content of the RSTD. Can I use a RSTD object in the same way I have been using a SD? If so, how do I get it to render? This is on zope 2.7.5 with the ZReST that comes "built in." trying to open a file in database but couldn't

I'm trying to open a file that is in database but I got this error message instead coercing to Unicode: need string or buffer, instance found I don't quite understand why. how to let java applet using mysql database work in zope?

Hello! Currently, I am trying to integrate one java applet to zope/plone. my java applet use mySQL database and is working outside zope, however, when I integrate my applet into zope, it can not take mySQL data anymore. Please give me suggestions how to overcome this problem. Applets in a browser can only connect back to the same host. If you start your applet locally, it is allowed to connect to any host it wants. Read about it in your java documentation. Solutions: put the database and your web site on the same host (or use firewall/proxy tricks to let it appear like this) - or better access your database thru zope - via XMLRPC and friend - and this way get on topic :-) --Tino
