Zope behind iis

Hi, i have a simple question... should i be able to see zope when iis is running? I am asking this because i am trying to setup Enfold Proxy and it is not able to reach http://localhost:8080. What happens is that when iis is stopped my plone and zope both run fine but when i start iis, plone does not display anything as iis uses port 80 but zope stops working too. It gives me ap age can not be displayed error in my ie. So if any one can tell me how to get zope running when iis is running, it would help me get Enfold Proxy started too. Thanks in advance.

Limiting access

Hi We are running a site for a local government providing local information. Over the past few months, the site has been spidered daily and the information appears to be used for unwanted marketing campaigns. We have been asked if we could somehow block this access. We tried blocking the originating IP on the server (using route to blackhole), but the spider is rotating IPs within a day of us putting in a block. Is there some mechanism in Zope or can be added to a Zope instance that would limit the number of requests that are served per IP address within a certain period of time? We are aware that this would also affect Google and other search engine spiders, but as they usually come from a known IP range, it would be nice if we could exempt these from the "throttling". Any ideas or suggestions? DR

Pack problem with zeo

I have encountered a problem caused by packing Data.fs (pack done via ZMI - Control Panel - Database Management - main - Pack). After Data.fs is packed, the ZODBmount point for the zeo server is missing. I have the following folder set-up: Root |----Coz |---ZeoServer1 After the pack operation, folder 'ZeoServer1' is missing. In zope.conf I have: <zodb_db main> # Main FileStorage database <filestorage> path $INSTANCE/var/Data.fs </filestorage> mount-point / </zodb_db> <zodb_db zeo1> mount-point /Coz/ZeoServer1 # ZODB cache, in number of objects cache-size 5000 <zeoclient> server 192.168.123.1:8100 storage 1 name zeostorage var /apps/zeo1/var # ZEO client cache, in bytes cache-size 20MB # Uncomment to have a persistent disk cache #client zeo1 </zeoclient> </zodb_db> I am packing the main Data.fs (running on an application server - the zeo client) not the zeo Data.fs. (zeo server is running on a different machine). I am running Zope 2.9.2 on RedHat linux. Any ideas as to how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated! Jonathan

Zope 2.9 Product Refreshing

Hi. I've been attempting to develop products with Zope 2.9, and am finding it increasingly difficult and slow to do so as Product refreshing no longer works. Google shows up a few results from mailing lists with somewhat negative responses (The gist I'm getting is that no-one 'in the know' wants to worry about fixing it, as they don't see a real need for it). However, as a zope restart seems to take a good 5-10 seconds on my high end workstation (AthlonX2 4800+) with all the essentiall products installed (Plone, archetypes etc, plus my application), it's starting to become a major problem. as an example, I spent about three hours today debugging a problem, 90% of which was wasted waiting for zope restarts after making small changes and adding trace print statements. If I was able to refresh the product I would likely have taken less than half an hour. Another major issue I've discovered is Zope hosting. We reguarly deploy custom sites on shared zope environments, and having to restart an entire server just to update one product severely breaks our uptime guarentee. I'm afraid we are going to have no choice but to either drop back to Zope 2.8, or ditch Zope entirely- something I'd prefer not to have to do with our large codebase. I'm hoping I can garner some support to get the zope developers to fix the problem. Failing that, ANY information pointing me in the right direction would be helpful, as I'm more than happy to fix it myself and submit a patch. If anyone else is finding this a problem, please reply in this thread. :-) Thanks in advance. James.

I using a python program that create thumbnails that I upload into zope. But the problem is that my program wants to recieve string values and apparently zope object id is not. can anyone help with this? I have a Python script that transmits a file to the user. Python Scripts and HTML Forms

Dear Trusted Zope Zealots, This subject was a bit too broad to do a google search on, because I've tried and the lack of relevancy was astounding. I've probably been committing a cardinal sin in DTML, but I couldn't figure any other work around. I have an HTML form in a DTML Document say: <form action="process_this_form" method="post" Name:<input type="text" name:"first_name"> </form> I want to use "first_name" in a python script, but what I've been doing is setting it in the process_this_form, which is a DTML method: DTML Method, process_this_form: <dtml-call "REQUEST.SESSION.set('firstName', first_name)> <dtml-call "this_is_a_python_script()"> and in the Python Script, this_is_a_python_script I use REQUEST.SESSION.get('firstName') What my question is, is there anyway to directly access "first_name" from the form in the python script without having to have to call the <dtml-call "REQUEST.SESSION.set('firstName', first_name)> and then REQUEST.SESSION.get('firstName') in the python script. Sort of a sophomoric question, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Muk
