Hi, all! BaseRequest error

Hi! When I try to import Function from ZPublisher.Client, I got this error: No module named event. error comes from: zope.event import notify can you help me? Wrong time displayed on events

I've just installed Plone 2.5.1 on Zope 2.9.6 running on FreeBSD 6-STABLE. On my newly created Plone site, whenever I add an event, it's displayed with the wrong time. For instanced, if I create one that runs between 2006-12-05 19:30 and 22:00, it gets rendered like: (<span class="location">Some Event</span>, from <abbr class="dtstart" title="2006-12-05 19:30:00">2006-12-05 13:30</abbr> to <abbr class="dtend" title="2006-12-05 22:00:00">2006-12-05 16:00</abbr>) The server and I live in the CST time zone, which accounts for the 6-hour offset (as though I entered the time in UTC and it's converting it to CST for display). But since I never entered a timezone anywhere, why's it doing any conversion at all instead of just assuming that all times entered are local to the server? Is there a way to fix this, other than deliberately entering all times for events six hours too late, and letting Plone "fix" the display? -- Kirk Strauser Daycos

emulate a sequence

Hi! I need a field in zope object which act as a sequence. I mean every time I create an object, the value is the previous sequence value of the last object created + 1. also I need to browse the objects by sequence (from the object 1 to the last, by the sequence number) I think I need a catalog FieldIndex to store the sequence for searches, a property in the object. Can I use the catalog to retrieve the max value of the index, so when I create the object, I just add 1 and store it in the property? TIA

ZODB access via ZEO

Hello All, Im trying to read from the data.fs file plone product information like home attributes. Im doing this via ZEO using app.Control_Panel.Products.getObjectItems() This returns to me a set of (object ids, objects). Using the object I change the home attribute. When I restart the script the home attribute is the same as it was before. So the change did not take place in the database. Is there any way to check back in the retrieved object from data.fs? Thanks, Adit PS: I want to be able to modify the home attrib so I can change location of products even after theyre installed. AFAIK this is the only way to do it.

ZPT problems upgrading 2.9.6 to 2.10.2

Hi all again, As I mentioned in my previous email I'm in the middle of an upgrade from 2.9.6 to 2.10.2, and getting (at least) a couple of errors: Sometimes when a ZPT that gets content from the database (postgres, psycopg 2.0.4) is called, it raises the following UnicodeDecodeError: """ Module zope.tal.talinterpreter, line 754, in do_insertStructure_tal UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 164: ordinal not in range(128) """ I've also seen it failing in presence of a 0xc2 byte, and I haven't tested if this is the usual behavior for a non ascii. I have the following directives in the zope.conf file: - rest-input-encoding utf-8 - rest-output-encoding utf-8 - default-zpublisher-encoding utf-8 All my "admin" forms have an accept-charset="utf-8". So, any hint on why it uses the ascii codec? am I omitting anything? If the problem is in the database, is there any way to pass a "replace" or "ignore" argument for unicode error handling? (maybe the DB should do that?). Again, although I don't really know how much garbage was being actually served, the same requests worked under 2.9.6. BTW, I don't think I can isolate where this offending insertion occurs from this traceback (I might be wrong on this, but I think I remember that in previous versions of Zope you could get the line number, or at least the actual culprit's filename) Also, my main template (the file that contains the macro that is used by most other pages) is showing this message when editing TTW: """ Macro expansion failed exceptions.NameError: name 'widget' is not defined """ And that's because I have this code: <tal:block condition="PAGE/widgets" repeat="widget PAGE/widgets"> <metal:singleton use-macro="python:path('context/widgets_sidebar.html/macros/' + widget)" /> </tal:block> Of course the expected macro does exist in the file when the variable "widget" is evaluated. This not only shows when editing the template itself, but also when doing it on every page that uses it. No, the checkbox "Expand macros when editing" is not selected an any level. Fortunately, this doesn't prevent the page from being served properly. Hi Marco, thanks for your input.
