Extensive Javascript GUI and security

I have created a zope product that demonstrates how I would like to use zope with extjs library. The demo does not require an installation of extjs. It is linked to here http://wiki.zope.org/zope2/HowToCreateJavascriptGUI I hope that using zope along with extjs in this way makes zope much more scalable however I am having trouble figuring out the proper way to set up security. Could somebody check out my demo and give me feedback on how to set up the security? I would like the user to only have to log on once. Subsequent AJAX calls should not require subsequent log in. Also, I create new accounts by copying an account 'template' folder that includes a acl_users folder in it. How do you set the proper security when you create accounts in this way? How do you set the security on an external Method in these folders? I want to use zope to hold medical data for everyone from a physician in the remote regions of the World all the way up to multi-hospital chains. This requires a very scalable and very secure zope. zeo configuration HOWTO

I'm trying to find more documentation about all the configuration parameters for a zeo.conf Namely, I have a zope with multiple zodb's and mount points. I am trying to learn how to migration a single zope instance with multiple mounts into zeo. One thing I don't understand is temporary storage. If I have <zodb_db temporary> # Temporary storage database (for sessions) <temporarystorage> name temporary storage for sessioning </temporarystorage> mount-point /temp_folder container-class Products.TemporaryFolder.TemporaryContainer </zodb_db> in zope.conf -- how do and transfer that into zeo.conf and modify the zope.conf to properly understand. specifically, do I put 'container-class' in zeo.conf ? Also, in zope.conf what do 'server', 'storage', 'name', and 'client' map to in zeo.conf? AJAX / HTML Fragment

I'm writing my website to use AJAX for form posting and displaying content, and instead of using AJAX to parse XML and then update the DOM, I'm using Zope to create an HTML fragment and AJAX just writes it to the correct location on the page. It works really great for what I'm doing, but the only problem is that I get an error message: "Error: no element found Source File: http://myzopesite:8080/mywebsite/zz/NewNote Line: 1" NewNote is the location of the Python script which just posts the content to a database (it actually execs a stored procedure)... If I set the zsql query to "select 1 as true" at the end, that makes the error go away. That leads me to believe something in the javascript is wrong, so here's the relevant part of the javascript: $.post('NewNote',{py_projectid: projectid,py_who: userName,py_note: note}, function() { // it saved. update display $('#theNotes').load('AJX_ListNotes?projectid='+ projectid); } It is using jQuery, but I had it setup before as just a plain javascript, but I still had the same problem. So, why would I get a "No element found" on a POST query? Here is the content of the python script. It's as basic as you can get: return container.addnote(projectid=py_projectid, who=py_who, note=py_note) That is the only thing which expect a return value. If I change that to this: container.addnote(projectid=py_projectid, who=py_who, note=py_note) return 1 I don't get any error messages, but the "update display" never happens. So, I'd like to have no error messages, and I'd also like not having to pollute my zsql queries with stupid things like "select 1 as true". Any ideas on how to accomplish that? -- Thanks, Derek Wilson

Guarded __getitem__ with non-ascii unicode key

Today I had to write this supporting method in my product to prevent a rather strange Unauthorized error in my Page Template. My docstring should explain what I understand:: def unsafe_unicode_dict_getitem(self, dictionary, item): """ Return the value of this item in a dictionary object. Simply call the __getitem__ of this dictionary to pluck out an item. Why call this unsafe_...() ? If you try to do this in a guarded context (e.g. Script (Python) (or Page Template)) you'll get an Unauthorized error: d = {u'\xa3':1} d[u'\xa3'] # will raise an Unauthorized error # this works however d = {u'\xa3':1, u'asciiable':1} d[u'asciiable'] Why? I don't know. The place where it happens is the parental guardian function guarded_getitem() from ZopeGuards.py By instead calling the __getitem__ from here in unrestricted python we can bypass this. authentication with python program

How do I migrate CacheFu

Hi all, I'm moving a Plone site from one server to another. At the same time I have upgraded Plone 2.5 to 2.5.5. I have managed to move all contents without major problems. Now I'm dealing with CacheFu. It refuses to enabled. I digged into the code and notice this: 265 if installed_version != __version__: 266 # CacheSetup hasn't migrated yet so let's disable it. 267 field = self.getField('enabled') 268 if field is None: 269 self._updateSchema() 270 elif field.get(self) == True: 271 field.set(self, False) 272 if getToolByName(self, config.PAGE_CACHE_MANAGER_ID, None) is not None: 273 -> enableCacheFu(self, False) 274 (Pdb) installed_version != __version__ True (Pdb) So it seems I have not properly migrated CacheFu.
