Odd ZCTextIndex behavior
by Jim Kutter 28 Oct '03

28 Oct '03

Hi folks - I've noticed some odd behavior in the ZCTextIndex. I have an index of searchable terms that include, among other things, the author's employer's name. In instances where the company name is a string followed by a number (in this instance, "the451 group"), searching for the number ("451") even with wildcards ("*451*"), only finds references where the number is alone, and not part of any other string. Oddly, searching for "t*451" matches the name. I'm running the binary 2.6.2 (and 2.6.1) releases on linux. This occurrs in both. Any ideas why this would happen? Is this correctable? -jim

Accessing local drive gives error?
by Cliff Quinn 28 Oct '03

I am getting gthe following error message in my events.log just before my zope server dies completely: 2003-10-27T16:42:45 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing channel <ZServer.HTTPServer.zhttp_channel connected 206.71.98.243:4843 at 0x11c71e24 channel#: 1561 requests:> (exceptions.OSError:[Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C:\\DOCUME~1\\CLIFFQ~1\\LOCALS~1\\Temp\\~1572-49' [C:\FSI\lib\python\ThreadedAsync\LoopCallback.py|poll|114] [C:\FSI\ZServer\medusa\asyncore.py|handle_read_event|395] [C:\FSI\ZServer\medusa\asynchat.py|handle_read|82] [C:\FSI\ZServer\medusa\http_server.py|recv|423] [C:\FSI\ZServer\medusa\asyncore.py|recv|347] [C:\FSI\ZServer\medusa\asynchat.py|handle_close|149] [C:\FSI\ZServer\HTTPServer.py|close|324] [C:\FSI\ZServer\Producers.py|more|102] [\FSI/bin/lib\tempfile.py|close|133]) I am running Zope 2.6.1 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.3, win32 on a Windows2000 machine, and the user was accessing a Plone photo album when the problem occurred. I don't understand why anything is trying to look at the "Documents and settings/CLIFFQ/LOCALSETTINGS" folder????? What's going on here - can anyone help? The W2K machine is being run under my name, so that's the user that's being referred to, but that user is an administrator anyway. Can not link to ZOPE: ImportError: DLL load failed

I am new to ZOPE, and I started with examples from 'Advanced ZODB for Python Programmers' by Michel Pelletier, zope.org/Documentation/Articles/ZODB1 and ZODB2. However, I can not import the ZODB modules. I suspect some setting must be wrong, but I have no idea, which : >From the command line: >>> from ZODB import FileStorage, DB Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#10>", line 1, in ? from ZODB import FileStorage, DB File "C:\Program Files\Zope262\lib\python\ZODB\FileStorage.py", line 133, in ? from ZODB import BaseStorage, ConflictResolution, POSException File "C:\Program Files\Zope262\lib\python\ZODB\BaseStorage.py", line 21, in ? import ThreadLock, bpthread ImportError: DLL load failed: Can not find the Module >>> Or trying it with BTrees from a python module: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:/Documents and Settings/Kirchhoff/My Documents/Python/AccDB.py", line 2, in ? from BTrees import OOBTree File "C:\Program Files\Zope262\lib\python\BTrees\__init__.py", line 11, in ? import Interfaces File "C:\Program Files\Zope262\lib\python\BTrees\Interfaces.py", line 15, in ? import OOBTree, Interface File "C:\Program Files\Zope262\lib\python\BTrees\OOBTree.py", line 16, in ? from _OOBTree import * ImportError: DLL load failed: Can not find the Module >>> The file OOBTree contains these lines: # hack to overcome dynamic-linking headache. from _OOBTree import * In the BTree directory, where OOBTree.py is located, there are two _OOBTree files: _OOBTree.c _OOBTree.pyd

inheritedAttribute search order
by Ken Whitesell 28 Oct '03

28 Oct '03

Ooh, ooh, I know the answer to this one!!! Per the Python 2.3.2 documentation, Section 9.5.1, it's a depth-first, left to right resolution. In this case, it's Base1 -> Base2 -> Base3 If Base1 is a subclass of Base0, then it's Base1 -> Base0 -> Base2 -> Base3 Ken > Date: Mon, 27 Oct 2003 17:19:01 +0100 > From: "Gilles Lenfant" <gilles(a)pilotsystems.net> > Subject: [Zope] inheritedAttribute search order > To: <zope(a)zope.org> > Message-ID: <052d01c39ca6$085ea370$0301a8c0@provence> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" > > Hi, > > Given such a situation... > > class MyClass(Base1, Base2, Base3): > ... > def foo(self, arg1, arg2): > """ """ > x = ... > y = ... > ... > z = MyClass.inheritedAttribute('foo')(self, x, y) > ... > > In the case where more than one base class has a "foo" method/attribute, in > what order does inheritedAttribute() search that "foo" attribute ? > > Base1 -> Base2 -> Base3 ? > Base3 -> Base2 -> Base1 ? > Other ? > > Many thanks in advance. > > --

inheritedAttribute search order
by Gilles Lenfant 27 Oct '03

27 Oct '03

Hi, Given such a situation... class MyClass(Base1, Base2, Base3): ... def foo(self, arg1, arg2): """ """ x = ... y = ... ... z = MyClass.inheritedAttribute('foo')(self, x, y) ... In the case where more than one base class has a "foo" method/attribute, in what order does inheritedAttribute() search that "foo" attribute ? Base1 -> Base2 -> Base3 ? Base3 -> Base2 -> Base1 ? Other ? Many thanks in advance. -- Gilles

by lmcdonnell＠iwon.com 27 Oct '03

27 Oct '03

Hi, I have a small problem. I wrote and dtml form with several input fields. After hitting the submit button, I pass one of the variables to an sql call to find. If it is a valid record, I will display my information but if the record is invalid, I see a blank screen. I have goolged around and I did not find any clues to my problem. Is there an error type I can look for? Any help would be appreciate, thanks Larry _______________________________________________

Analyzing ZODB objects
by Bjorn Stabell 27 Oct '03

27 Oct '03

What is a good tool for analyzing the size of each object in the ZODB, pickled and unpacked in memory? I'm using Zope 2.6.2. With 62,214 objects in memory, the server uses 491MB of RAM. That gives roughly 8kb per object, assuming other things aren't don't contribute to memory usage as well. Is there any way to predict how much memory is going to be used? Bye, -- Bjorn
