changing the base path

I am attempting to change the base path. The user comes in on path www.xyz.com I want to change the base to www.xyz.com/test I calling a script that executed REQUEST.setVirtualPath('test',hard=0), but that didn't work. (I know that the user could come in on that path, but that's not the point. I want to know how to change the base path.) Dear Sir/Madam I would like you show me how to fix it in Window2000. I have installed Python for Windows and it work properly (I test it with "import win32api" is OK). furthermore, I have also installed helper Application for windows2000 and configured the browser ( Action is "Open", Application use to perform Action is "C:\Python23\pythonw.exe" C:\Program Files\Plone\Zope\pwi\zopeedit.py "%1" ), Extension is ".ZOPE", file type is "application/x-zope-edit" . After I configure it already I try to click the pencil icon but it does not work. what wrong? I follow the instruction from book step by step but it still not work. Hope you can show me clearly. sounds like it's not a problem then. Try searching for *451. If that works, then you only need 1 wildcard. Hi, I have a problem with a python script that has the Manager proxy role. It creates a portal folder (Plone Folder) and then tries to modify the newly created object. The ID is passed in the 'username' parameter: portal = context.portal_url.getPortalObject() profiles = portal.profiles profiles.invokeFactory(id=username, type_name='Folder') This works just fine and as expected. Now I wouldd like to modify the folder, and am trying to get an object: profile = getattr(profiles, username) But this fails: Unauthorized: You are not allowed to access <username> in this context The script has the Manager proxy role, and I completely don't understand why even without it, I should not be allowed to obtain a reference to the folder. I would appreciate any hints. changing the realm name?

i have a zope instance for a client of mine, and log-in/authentication is handled by a standard acl_users folder in the root level. when the log-in box appears there is the realm 'zope', and i need to change this to something else. any idea how i can do this? (i have searched the zope site and this mailing list with no luck) thanks matt

Zope + Python 2.2 on Windows

Hello: I have a situation in which I am required to set up Zope with Python + PyXML on a laptop running Windows (2000) so that a product of ours can be demonstrated in the field. This would be ALMOST no problem, except that PyXML under versions less than 2.2 of python do not have the length property on nodeLists, and this is absolutely required by our code. Is there any way to get the binary distribution of Zope for win32 to run with Python 2.2 (or 2.3)? I am having NO success getting Zope compiled in cygwin, and of course I am extremely contrained for time. Is there perhaps anyone who has done up an unoficcial Zope / Py 2.2/2.3 distribution for Win32? This is the last hoop to cross - I already got pgsql etc running the way I need them to. Epoz, epozng, htmlarea3

We now have three (or maybe four) rich widgets that attempt to replace textareas; Epoz, epozNG (a.k.a epoz), and htmlarea3. Could someone do some compare and contrast on these systems? Is epoz replacing Epoz? htmlarea3 can apparently handle multiple textareas in a form, although there is some indication that MSIE support for this is limited, in that only seven textareas can be handled in a single form. Epoz and epoz apparently cannot handle multiple textareas. If this is in fact true - could some javascript guru show how to create a form that passes the current value of a textarea into a popup epoz editor. When the popup is saved, it should place the result back into the original textarea. (It would be nicer if a formatted object could be used instead of a textarea, but I don't see how to do that in javascript). Thanks for any guidance. Jim Penny

site root lock out

While experimenting I created a site root object in an attempt to get zope to server a different directory as the root folder. The result is that I can no longer get to the real root folder in the admin pannel. Because of this it seems that I can not undo what I did. Is there any way I can get access to the real root folder again so that I can remove the site root object ? thanks -matthew

Zope re-writing URLs?

Hi I encounter a strange problem with a link in hand-coded HTML pointing at a directory in the directory tree. I allow the owner of a site to upload images to a specific directory in the tree. I created a custom page for links to "editing" pages with a link like this: <a href="/shopping/pictures/manage_main" target="_blank" title="Show pictures directory">Show pictures directory</a> When the page is rendered in either IE5, IE6 or Mozilla, the link suddenly shows as: /shopping/pictures/manage_workspace (manage_main replace by manage_workspace) The link takes the user back to the index_html in /shopping. (I think it just looks for an index_html up the tree.) But I want the user to use the management screens, so I don't need to write a custom interface for managing the images. I tried clearing the browser cache, also coded the link absolute with domain. In Safari, it works fine. No re-write, link appears as coded and works! Has somebody encountered this? Zope 2.3 on Solaris 8; Intel-box. Cheers Marc
