Converting LazyCat to LazyMap?
by Charlotte Pollock 21 Oct '03

21 Oct '03

Hi All I am querying two catalogs seperately, each returns its results as a LazyMap object. I now want to combine the two result sets, but when I do that they become a LazyCat object (which doesn't work with the Plone Batch scripts I am using) Is there anyway to turn the LazyCat object into a LazyMap, or combine the two LazyMaps without creating a LazyCat? Any answers, suggestions, or stabs in the dark welcome Charlie

Dave, I'm not here to defend sexism, racism or other anti-social behaviors but I have to wonder if you're not using a shotgun to kill a fly. I've only been following this list for about 4 months but it is one of the nicest lists I've ever read. Responders are almost universally gentle with and respectful of people who post here. You've given absolutely no specifics and admit you're only talking about a 'few people'. Wouldn't your outrage and comments be more effectively directed to those lists, IRC channels and individuals that you find offensive? Certainly it's an open list and people can say whatever they want but I was just wondering why you feel the need to address the entire community with your outrage. If there are any women who feel the community has discriminated against them, as opposed to some individual Neanderthal, I think we'd like to hear from them directly since you've raised the issue to the community as a whole. Thanks, Tom P. attributes Runtime error when using ZODB File Storage
by Ruth Mizzi 21 Oct '03

Hi, I'm using the ZODB storage for the first time and am basically tring to add some user info to a FileStorage object. My code is a python script pasted below. My problem is that when I'm trying to test this in the Zope management interface I keep getting the error: Error Type: RuntimeError Error Value: function attributes not accessible in restricted mode .... any idea what could be causing this problem and, more importantly, how I can solve it?? Cheers Ruth import ZODB from ZODB import DB from ZODB.FileStorage import FileStorage from ZODB.PersistentMapping import PersistentMapping from Persistence import Persistent class AnvilUser(Persistent): def setUserName(self, username): self.username = username def setFullName(self, fname): self.fname = fname def setSurName(self, surname): self.surname = surname def setEMail(self, email): self.email = email storage = FileStorage('anvilusers.fs') db = DB(storage) connection = db.open() root = connection.root() if not root.has_key('users'):root["users"] = {} users = root['users'] anviluser = AnvilUser() anviluser.setUsername(username) anviluser.setFullName(fname) anviluser.setSurName(surname) anviluser.setEMail(email) users.append(anviluser) root['users'] = users get_transaction.commit() connection.close()

Let's also remind him not to install CMF 1.4 as it does not work with Plone, and you must use CMF 1.32. Look into the GroupUserFolder. It's easy to use and gives you full group-based security. It actually wraps two user folders, one to store users and one to store groups. This is a good thing because you can replace the wrapped user folders with any custom user folder you want, for example LDAPUserFolder. > ----- Message from Matthew Thorley <ruach(a)chpc.utah.edu> on Fri, 17 > Oct 2003 14:09:16 -0600 ----- > > To: > > zope(a)zope.org > > Subject: > > [Zope] help with groups support > > I want to add support for groups to my zope site, but I don't know whats the > best way to go about it. Local expertise

Are there any local user groups or sources of expertise. I'm in the San Francisco bay area I'd prefer a user group, or an independent 'handholder'. In extremis, a real commercial operation recommendation would be appreciated. Thanks!

How to create an accurate download counter?
by Julian Gollop 21 Oct '03

21 Oct '03

I need to keep a record of files downloaded from my website using zope. It is easy enough to add a counter and update my database I already have this working but how can I tell if the download has succeeded or if it has been aborted? I only want to keep a record of complete downloads only, if possible. Regards, Julian Gollop Codo Technologies ltd. www.codotech.com www.lasersquadnemesis.com

Z2.log and apache log files
by Paolo Dina 21 Oct '03

21 Oct '03

Hi. Most of us use Apache in front of Medusa for reasons that heve been fully discussed a lot of times. In my case i handle sites in Zope using Apache virtual host capability combined with Zope Virtual Host Monster, so i can get separate log files for each vhost. In this situation, does it make sense to also keep Z2.log growing more and more? TIA Paolo
