Tips for Zope administrators -- and a compilation?
by Paul Howell 19 Oct '03

Back in August, runyaga wrote: >you should never go into production without ZEO. >you should never add live components / migrate a plone server / pack >ZODB on a server that serves requests. >~runyaga On the longer side of this post, are there other standard operating procedures or "best practices" tips for Zope admins that are already aggregated in one place, or that we should aggregate in one place? And with rationale behind each tip? Duh, I'm sure there are such tips, I'm just not sure where they're all hiding. And there doesn't seem to be a "zope-admin" listserv among the plethora of zope lists. I'd be willing to set up something that collects/disseminates such guru-fed tips and discussion, if there's interest among you all for getting them out in the open. Seems the solution should allow discussion to tag on to each posting, to help keep things current (and lively). Thanks, =Paul

Never mind! Figured it out. Everything works. I had not installed the product correctly (I was missing the ZreST folder in Products). Thanks for your help, Andreas. -----Original Message----- From: Andreas Jung [mailto:andreas@andreas-jung.com] Sent: Sunday, October 19, 2003 11:30 To: Samir Mishra; 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: Re: [Zope] ReStructured Text --On Sonntag, 19. Hello All, I've been trying to use the ReST product in Zope with little success. In Zope 2.6.x, after installing ReST, it shows up in the list of products, but not in the drop-down list of products available (as in Zope 2.7). My question: 1. Did I install it properly in Zope 2.6? I have no error messages. 2. How do I use it? In Zope 2.6? In Zope 2.7? TIA. Regards, Samir

Re: [Zope] authenticated_user in Z SQL method not defined
by Christoph Landwehr 18 Oct '03

Hi, "SecurityGetUser()" was the hint I needed. Thanx a lot! Though I dont't know, why AUTHENTICATED_USER is not available in the context of an ZSQL-method since it is a method of the Zope-defined web request variables: """AUTHENTICATED_USER An object that represents an authenticated user. When inserted into a DTML document, the value is the user name. This object currently provides no public attributes. Note that this variable may not be defined in Documents that are not protected by security information. """ (source: http://www.zms-publishing.com/live/zmspublishing/support/content/e732/e1121… ) which (I thought) is vailable in this context. Obviously I am wrong. Regards Christoph

probable python version problem
by Ted holden 18 Oct '03

18 Oct '03

Does anybody have the latest thinking on the following error message: ImportError: /home/bear/Zope-2.6.2-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/instantindex/_iindexpymodule.so: undefined symbol: PyType_IsSubtype This occurs when trying to load a .so file created with swig, which works well enough from a normal python/pygtk application. >From what I gather doing searches on the problem, it would probably go away if I were to recompile the .so file against python 2.1, but that's sort of like heading in the wrong direction. I'd appreciate hearing from anybody with a better solution.

Well, it seems the red sox fans are still mighty pissed off. Or the site is just damn slow. It's taking forever to load. I'd be interested in knowing what they've done right/wrong, etc. Anyone with more info on this? Thx. -----Original Message----- From: John Ziniti [mailto:jziniti@speakeasy.org] Sent: Friday, October 17, 2003 22:04 To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] boston.com: The demo gods strike again Wade Leftwich wrote: > I was talking with a friend about options for replacing a crufty old > CMS, written in .asp, that manages 80 websites. error on dtml method, insert on postgres
by CY 18 Oct '03

18 Oct '03

One possible error: <input type="hidden" name="vfechacompra" value=20031012> I think this is should be written as value="20031012". My favorite debug technique: 1. change: <form action="equipoTest" method="post"> 2. equipoTest method: <dtml-var REQUEST> Explanation: The <dtml-var REQUEST> will display all your form variables and its values where you can visually compare for typo errors. This is very helpful. Good luck. > Hi folk > > When try to insert on a postgres table show me the follow error > > Zope Error > > Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. > > Error Type: _pg.error > Error Value: ERROR: parser: parse error at or near "p" at character 137 > > <dtml-method> > <dtml-var std_header> > <h2>Datos del equipo</h2> > <p> > <form action="equipoAddDisplay" method="post"> > <input type="hidden" name="vidtipo" value="2"> > <input type="hidden" name="vidsubzona" value="6"> > <input type="hidden" name="vidmarca" value="2"> > <input type="hidden" name="vserial" value="A2345X"> > <input type="hidden" name="vserialuc" value="UC2003"> > <input type="hidden" name="vidproveedor" value="2"> > <input type="hidden" name="vprecio" value="3500000"> > <input type="hidden" name="vfechacompra" value=20031012> > <input type="hidden" name="vdescripcion" value="BORRAR"> > <br> > <input type="submit" value="submit"> > </form> > <dtml-var std_footer> > </dtml-method> > > the error occurs with the field vfechacompra, fechacompra is a date field on > postgres table. > > when test my sql-method on ZMI all is OK, but not with the dtml-method > > <sql-method> > <arguments> > vidtipo > vidsubzona > vidmarca > vserial > vserialuc > vidproveedor > vprecio > vfechacompra > vdescripcion > </arguments> > > insert into equipo > (idtipo, > idubicacion, > idmarca, > serial, > serialuc, > idproveedor, > precio, > fechacompra, > descripcion) > values (<dtml-sqlvar vidtipo type="int">, > <dtml-sqlvar vidsubzona type="int">, > <dtml-sqlvar vidmarca type="int">, > <dtml-sqlvar vserial type="string">, > <dtml-sqlvar vserialuc type="string">, > <dtml-sqlvar vidproveedor type="int">, > <dtml-sqlvar vprecio type="nb">, > <dtml-sqlvar vfechacompra type="string">, > <dtml-sqlvar vdescripcion type="string">) > </sql-method>
