Are you putting this in a DTML Document, or a DTML Method? AFAIK, that won't work unless it's in a method. Zope Evaluation

Hi all, I'm evaluating Zope platform and Zope products, just in a general way. My main goal is to find out if I can use Zope as a simple platform where we could develop and delivery web-based applications. The principal characteristics that a platform like what we are looking for has to have are: licenses (it has to be open source), if it has a rich set of products, it it has a great users community, if there is many available documentation (in Internet, in bookstores, etc), the possibility of integration with external databases, if it has a security model (and how strong is that model), if it gives the possibility of avoiding the interaction of a web master in all deployments, how many languages does it support and which ones, recommendations concerning the base product to be taken, which of these options is better and why: CMF + ZOPE, ZOPE only, CMF + PLONE+ ZOPE, if its easy installing new products and developing applications, about Clear Case integration, and what about stability/performance I know that this is a very large list of characteristics, but I will be very thankful if you can give me your opinions as you have been working in this platform more time than I have. So if you can give me your opinion or can send me an URL or some articles where I could find the description of some of this characteristics, it would be better. I'm an acquisitions editor at Digital Press, and our foreign rights office just asked me if I'd be interested in publishing the English version of a recent German book on Zope (Zope--Content Management and Beyond). boston.com: The demo gods strike again

I was talking with a friend about options for replacing a crufty old CMS, written in .asp, that manages 80 websites. I said, "Hey, let's look at boston.com, the new Zope showpiece!" For those who are not that familiar with Python, the "r" prefix indicates that the string is "raw" - characters have their normal meaning, so that a backslash is not special. Using os.path.join would the preferred way to build up paths, except that it is restricted in Python Scripts. Cheers, Tom P

Here is the Python script - str = 'c:\this\is\a\test' return str When called via dtml-var, each character after a backslash was missing or otherwised changed. comparing strings

I'm was calling a python method from my dtml method and passing it 2 strings which I would like to compare for equality (are they the same string) but I have 2 questions .. Can I do this in dtml without calling the script? I've tried: <dtml-if expr="REQUEST.has_key(link_url) and link_url==remove_link_url"> equal <dtml-else> not </dtml-if> If I call a python script to do this, how do I complare strings in Python? I tried passing the 2 strings and using strcmp(link_url,remove_link_url) but that doesn't seem to do it either. Katie Legere Kingston Frontenac Public Library

can't pack Data.fs due to time-stamp error

I'm trying to move a site to a different computer. Copied (with -p) the Data.fs, started the new Zope (2.6.2).
