Do I understand this correctly?
by Tiller, Michael (M.M.) 06 Oct '03

I've been trying to understand how to setup virtual hosting and I have a few simple questions... 1) After reading the VHM documentation (that you can access when you create an instance of a VHM) that the VHM mechanism relies on something upstream (e.g. Apache) rewriting the URL to include this structure that VHM talks about? More to the point, is it correct to say that VHM is worthless without such a priori URL manipulation? 2) It seems like access rules are sufficient for what I want to do (host different sites from a single Zope server, each with their own directories). However, when I tried to use the simple example from Zope.org at http://zope.org/Members/4am/SiteAccess2/vhosting, I couldn't get even the simple DTML Method code in Example 2 to work. It just didn't seem to do anything. Is that example current with the site access and access rule functionality in Zope-2.6.2? -- Mike

help installing, starting zope on debian
by John Griessen 06 Oct '03

06 Oct '03

Hello, I am attempting to start zope 2.6.2-2 with zope-cmf 1.3.2-1 zopectl 0.2.6 and get connection refused at http://localhost:9673 I have just done a complete remove of all previous zopes and their config files, and installed this fresh. email archives I find about recent versions of zope suggest the config files have changed, and mention changing permissions, and yet the debian change notes also talk of fixes related to this already being in zope 2.6.2-2. What do you suggest? -- John Griessen Cibolo Design Austin Texas

Formulator - TALES problem
by Andreas Tille 06 Oct '03

06 Oct '03

Hello, I tried to set the End Datetime for an datetime Formulator object to the current time. I uses TALES and started with python: form.DateTime() This failed with Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: DateTime Now I created a Python script named 'jetzt' which just does return DateTime() and alternatively I tried return str(DateTime()) moreover I tried several different formats. The error.log of Test method of the Formulator object was always like: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 252, in __call__ Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 283, in _bindAndExec Module App.special_dtml, line 174, in _exec Module DocumentTemplate.DT_Util, line 201, in eval - __traceback_info__: render Module <string>, line 0, in ? Weird problem with permissions
by Florian Lindner 06 Oct '03

06 Oct '03

Hello, I've just discovered a strange thing with my (test-)site. I don't know if it was from the beginning, or if I changed something. I'm using CookieCrumbler for authentication. I'm not logged in (Anonymous User). I've a page template with a form. The action attribute of the form refers to python-script-object. But if I submit the script I'm redirected to the login-page (the page set in cookie-crumber). Obviously a anon user doesn't have permissions to execute the script. All permissions are set to acquire, in the objects and in the upper folders. Is this normal? Which permissions do I have to set? The same behavior I've with a page template which just calls a SQL-method and displays (tal:repeat) the results. I've changed no security permissions. Everything works when I'm logged in with a user. What is wrong? Thanks, Florioan

Zope, PIL, and Poll Problem
by Marc Stein 05 Oct '03

05 Oct '03

When attempting to use the poll product the pie chart displays as a broken graphic. The color boxes appear correctly and everything else about the poll seems fine. I have attempted to use this product under both Debian and Windows with exactly the same results. I have followed the published instructions regarding installing PIL under Windows and don't seem to have any errors. The request which returns the broken graphic is http://localhost:8080/Plone/Portal/poll1/question1/drawGraph?size:int=100 Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. ExtFile Productz seems to be incompatible with Zope 2.6.2
by Andreas Tille 05 Oct '03

05 Oct '03

Hi, I'm the Debian GNU/Linux maintainer of the ExtFile product. I checked whether this product works with Zope 2.6.2 but I failed. After creating a new ExtFile object I tried to view this object but I got the following traceback: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 89, in publish Module ZPublisher.BaseRequest, line 341, in traverse Module ZPublisher.HTTPResponse, line 636, in debugError NotFound: <TABLE BORDER="0" WIDTH="100%"> <TR VALIGN="TOP"> <TD WIDTH="10%" ALIGN="CENTER">   </TD> <TD WIDTH="90%"> <H2>Site Error</H2> An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Debugging Notice Zope has encountered a problem publishing your object. The object at http://localhost:9673/Test/ExtFileTest/testimg has an empty or missing docstring. Objects must have a docstring to be published. <HR NOSHADE> ... Unfortunately I have not enough knowledge of the internals and I hope for some help from the community to fix this problem. Kind regards Andreas.
