A ZEO 2, Zope 2.6.2 installation problem

I've seen bits and pieces of this discussed, but I haven't found an answer to this problem. We're trying to move to an installation with Zope 2.6.2 and ZEO 2. We currently run Zope 2.6.1b2 with Zeo 1. I've got a client and a ZEO installed, compiled as the user zope. If I start the ZEO with the following command: sudo -u zope python2 start.py -h xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -p 7700 And start the client with the following: sudo -u zope /usr/bin/python2 $cwd/z2.py -D -a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -w 8080 -u zope I get a working Zope on port 8080. When I attempt to do the same thing on port 80, however, the Zope, of course, won't bind to port 80 because of permissions. If I start the Zope like this, however : /usr/bin/python2 $cwd/z2.py -D -a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -w 80 -u zope The debug shows the zope starting up fine, with no errors at all. But it won't let me get into the site via a Web browser. The Zope thinks it's OK, but it just spins when you make a request (and doesn't log a request to Z2.log) I've tried both the stable ZEO 2.0b3 on Zope.org as well as one from CVS that was recommended on the list a while back. Any ideas?

I need an example on how to use keywordindex. what is the code for an html form to fill it? how do I search with "or" and "and" in this index? I need some example as html form and simple script. external editor win-client: fatal error: unknown encoding: mbcs

hi all, i use the externaleditor product and its win client. when i try and externaledit a file, in most cases the client sais: fatal error: unknown encoding: mbcs (some files generate this error, others dont...even with the same content type...) which subsystem generates this encoding? Are you by any chance using IE to look at the Windows server, but some other browser to look at the non-windows servers? You could check this notion by making a change, clearing the browser caches, closing ALL copies of the browser (just to be on the safe side) , and then re-opening the browser and checking. That explains why every time through your loop, you're getting the same result. It's not clear what you *mean* to have happen in this script... the only line that seems to do anything is this one: > container.REQUEST.set('CurrentDir',directory) Which only re-names the "directory" variable, which I assume was a parameter to the script. It's not clear what purpose this could serve. Perhaps you meant for the generated URL to have something to do with the current user and the directory name passed in. That might be: url = '/'.join([context.REQUEST.URL1,username,directory]) Or something like that. If that doesn't help, maybe you could describe what the script is *supposed* to return. HTH, Dylan

Zope 2.6.2 not responding

Anybody had problems with zope 2.6.2 not responding for a while? Also running ZEO from ZODB 3.1.2. it happened this morning for 20 minutes, then spontaneously resolved itself; same thing appears to be happening now. I've got bigM logging enabled, and I can clearly see that requests are arriving but not being returned.
