where __changed__() method defined ?

Greetings, I'm making a Zope product imitating some sample products. I encountered codes like "self.__changed__(1)", notifying ZODB that this object has changed. I wornder where the method __changed__() defined ? I greped Zope source code under lib/python/, but not found. --- Chihiro Kuraya

Long delay when error occurs in External Method

I find that if my External Method throws an error, Zope will spin for several minutes before it finally presents the error. If there is no error, my script will return immediately. Obviously it's taking me a long time to debug. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Nathaniel

External changing of permissons

Hi, I have a zope user directory with no Manager permissions (i.e. the admin user is unable to access it). How do I restore the Manager role permissions to this directory? Regards Sheldon Knight

File system operation rollback

I have a Zope product containing several classes. Certain methods of these classes invoke file system operations, almost exclusively deletes and renames. Has anyone developed a good strategy to roll back file system operations in the same way that ZODB and SQL transactions roll back in the event of an error? My file system gets out of sync quite frequently, so I would appreciate any ideas.

sequence.sort from python

Hi All! I am trying to use the sequence.sort function to sort the results from an ldap search (using the LDAPDelegate module from LDAPUserFolder to search ldap). This is in a custom python product, not in the zodb. Since every attribute value returned is a tuple, I can't exactly use sort's standard cmp function (at least it doesn't seem to work for me). I thought I'd try to use a custom comparison function, so I wrote my own to compare the first item in each attribute's tuple. I then called sort: sequence.sort(ldap_results,(('givenName',res_cmp),)) (res_cmp is the custom function) I get an attribute error saying 'None' object has no attribute 'res_cmp'. The traceback (included below) says that the error occurred on line 178 of SortEx.py. This line tried to get the actual function using the current namespace as passed into the sort function. I didn't pass one in, and the default is None. Is there anyway around this? Is there a way to create my own namespace and pass it in? Would it be easiest to delegate the sort to a zodb script? Well, I would consider an auto-refresh in another frame (possibly an iframe) or in a popup window. When the auto-refresh loads, you can have it send the updated data to the parent. The parent can do with it whatever it wants. Of course, you need to use javascript to make this work. I would be happy with that, myself. A more web-like approach would be to set up another resource - another url - that the main page should keep checking to get new data from Cheers, Tom P

You do not need a hidden frame to submit the form. Say you have decided how you want to display the message. You can do something like this - <head> function displayMessage() {//show message ...} function upload() { displayMessage() document.yourform.submit() } </head> <body> ... <form name='yourform' action='....' encoding='...'> .... <input type='button' value='Upload File' onClick='upload()'> </form> ... </body> This leaves you with two things to work out - 1) How to display the message 2) How to cancel the message display. If you display the message within the page, it will automatically go away when the file finishes uploading. That takes care of 2) so that would be the easiest thing to do. You could - 1) Display the message in an iframe. 2) Display the message in a text input box. 3) Display the message in an existing element in the HTML page. 4) Display the message in a popup window and close it using the onUnload event when the upload finally finishes. If it were me, I would create a div element for the message and hide it using the CSS instruction display:none. I would use the DOM method getElementById() to get a reference to it and change the style to display:block when I wanted to show it. However, this will not work with older browsers (like NS4) or lynx. I would not care about that, but you may very well care. With lynx, you really cannot do much, but with NS4 yuu would just have to use a slightly different approach to locate the element you are interested in. My preferred approach should work in IE5+, Mozilla, NS6+, and (I think) Opera 7+. Obviously the browser needs to support the DOM, otherwise you have to go to browser-specific methods. That leads to the iframe. For browsers that support the iframe, you can just write into an element in the iframe using document.write(), or have it load a static page from the server. Zsql case insensative search

Hello all, I am attempting to make a case insensative search via sql and odbc. Everything works and the dtml sql tags are awesome for dynamic queries. However, I have run into one problem whan it comes to a case insensative search. In strait sql the search is pretty easy ie: select * from some_table where upper(field) like '%AVALUE%' Most of this works great via sqltest, the one exception is calling the upper sqlfunction on the field. I can't seem to find a way to do this. If I stop using the dtml sql tags then the sql method becomes much more complex. Any ideas are welcome. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? can a dtml-let work for this?

I'm moving from a frames layout to a css-p layout and I'm having a problem pushing a variable into the namespace. Here's my main dtml document: <html> <head> <dtml-var head> </head> <body> <dtml-var top_html-css> <dtml-var left_html-css> <dtml-let account_id="Accounts.get_account_ids(location_code=location_code, start=start)"> <dtml-var table> </dtml-let> </body> </html> The 3 dtml-var tags in the middle insert my css positioned div tags. 'Table' is my main content and the others are a header and navigation section. The table needs an account_id passed to it and I was hoping the dtml-let tag would work but it's apparently not making the variable available for use like I need. I get an error about account_id not being available unless I specifically pass it in through the url. Is there something I'm doing wrong or should I be approaching this from a completely different way? I've tried a couple of different methods, including a dtml-in and putting the dtml-let in the actual 'table' document and neither worked. Thanks, Aaron Kunkle
