Same things does ocassionally (few weeks nothing, then every 2-3 days etc) for me with Zope 2.5.1, W2k TSE. I was moved to Linux Mandrake 9.1, runs without restarting for 1/2 year! > It looks like some kind of infinite loop, but I have no idea what could > cause this. I ran debug mode from the console but it tells me nothing. I > ran fsrecover and fspack on the database file (about 400MB) but > everything is fine. Our NT admin says me after deep researching that this error is probably in NT and not in Zope but does not know exactly which DLL or so it is. Yes, I was have installed Plone too, but not used. Memory consumes at first look Zope, but in detailed look thins memory consume some component from NT. In finally, my Zope runs now 2-10 times (100 for images) faster than on NT on slower HW and I cannot overload it (I was overload local mirroring machine and not Zope). Try Linux, it is easy to do with Mandrake. Regards JL.

Zope using ODBC on Linux question
by Mitch Pirtle 30 Sep '03

30 Sep '03

Hi list, After searching everywhere I know of, I've found that my only options for getting Zope to talk ODBC on Linux are: 1) pay for egenix's Zope ODBC Database Adapter product 2) try your luck retrofitting ZODBCDA (last hacked for unixODBC in 2001, and doesn't seem to build on Zope 2.6.2 with python 2.2) This is a sort of tragedy for me, after getting unixODBC and freeTDS configured properly (I can talk to SQL Server from Linux!!!), and now I have to go buy a non-free product for Zope :( It's not giving up the free-as-in-free-beer part, as $95 means nothing to the overall budget of this project; but it's losing the free-as-in-free-speech aspect that bothers me. Is there a free project out there that I don't know about? -- mitchy

Do you think the limit > comes from Active directory and not python ? > The limit issue is almost 100% coming from AD. Active Directory limits the results of an LDAP query. The following article states it's 10,000 by default. It also tells you how to increase it: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;243281 Hope this helps. Regards, Andy.

Using the CMF Skins Tool in normal Zope instance
by Max M 30 Sep '03

30 Sep '03

I have a rather large legacy Zope system that I want to gradually migrate to CMF/Plone. A big step would be if I could use the "CMF Skins Tool" in my instances. Is there anybody that are aware of the issues in that? Are there nasty dependecies that needs to be resolved, or do I just rip it out of the CMF and install it in my instances, and so is ready to go? regards Max M

RE: [Zope] reStructuredText rendering from commandline

I installed the ZRest product in Zope 2.6.1, restarted Zope, under ControlPanel/Products, reStructuredText now shows up as being installed without errors, but I don't see it in the drop-down list of products in root. Have I installed ZReST incorrectly? If not, how do I use ZReST within Zope? -----Original Message----- From: Andreas Jung [mailto:andreas@andreas-jung.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 30, 2003 09:41 To: Samir Mishra; 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: RE: [Zope] reStructuredText rendering from commandline ZRest is available as standalone Product (google it). Installed docutils, don't see the file you mention in the install. Only 'html.py' I have is docutils/parsers/rst/directives/html.py and docutils/writers/html.py. Were you referring to one of these files? Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: Ng Pheng Siong [mailto:ngps@netmemetic.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 30, 2003 10:12 To: Samir Mishra Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: Re: [Zope] reStructuredText rendering from commandline On Tue, Sep 30, 2003 at 08:50:19AM +0400, Samir Mishra wrote: > I would like to create an external script, call it reStr, obviously > Pythonic, such that, on a command line - > > $ reStr some-text-file.txt > some-rendered-html.html > > will give me a file that users can view and publish from outside Zope. docutils-0.3/tools/html.py Turns your restructured text file into html. -- Ng Pheng Siong <ngps(a)netmemetic.com> http://firewall.rulemaker.net -+- Manage Your Firewall Rulebase Changes http://sandbox.rulemaker.net/ngps -+- Open Source Python Crypto & SSL

reStructuredText rendering from commandline
by Samir Mishra 30 Sep '03

30 Sep '03

Seem to be experiencing a mental block this morning... I would like to create an external script, call it reStr, obviously Pythonic, such that, on a command line - $ reStr some-text-file.txt > some-rendered-html.html will give me a file that users can view and publish from outside Zope. My question(s): 1) Has someone done anything similar? If so, any pointers/tips will be appreciated. 2) Does anyone know what modules I may need to import? Which functions I'd call? Would it be 'StructuredText'? Really am feeling stupid today. TIA.

Re: Display new object without redirect
by Ken 30 Sep '03

30 Sep '03

Greetings, I wrote yesterday asking how to display a newly created, catalogued object (DocumentFile of DocumentLibrary) after calling <dtml-call expr="addDocumentFile(REQUEST=REQUEST)"> without using a redirect (typically to URL1). This works ('topic' is a property which has been set to the object id): <dtml-in documents> <dtml-if "topic==id"> <dtml-with "Documents.getObject(data_record_id_)"> <dtml-var data> </dtml-with> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> I am seeing some server errors (code 500). And I am wishing for a more elegant solution to reference the newly created object. Any suggestions? Thanks! Ken

LDAPUserFolder - Too many results for this query...
by Patrick Gelin 30 Sep '03

30 Sep '03

Hi, I would like to go through all LDAP users to register them into my Plone site (I need to use localroles and it's possible only after a Plone registration...) So, I'm writing a python script (may be I have to write an external method) which use the LDAPUserFolder::getUserNames API, and I've got the error message below: getUserNames: Cannot find any users (Too many results for this query) Is there a solution to grow the size of result accepted by python-ldap ? Is there an other solution ? Thanks. Patrick Gelin
