Maybe I should have re-worded this. I want to create a password protected part of a zope website. How do I do that? I added the ACL_USERS folder but it doesn't ask for authentication. Hey all, Wanted to share some specifics because this shouldn't have taken 3 hours! Install exUserFolder Why? Want to authenticate users against a database or external source instead of Plone or Zope native acl_users. How long? Hopefully less than 1 hour with this doc! Environment: Windows 2000 Server, Plone 1.0.5 (Instead of speaking generically and full of theory and foo-bar crap and " ... " everywhere we NEED the fricking code example, I am going to list EXACT specifics for my environment.) Specific Steps: 1) At "Root Folder" in the ZMI, add (Z ODBC Database Connection) mine is: [bosdev_odbc] which connects to an Interbase (Borland) database. (It shouldn't matter what db you use. It's easy to test your connection with any sql you want. 2) Download exUserFolder http://www.zope.org/Members/TheJester/exUserFolder <http://www.zope.org/Members/TheJester/exUserFolder> 0-10-10 was latest non-dev release. Extract files to Product directory. Restart Zope. 3) In ZMI, Inside my plone site [/dev], (NOT at the root), deleted the acl_users folder. 4) In ZMI, in Plone site /dev, Added "ex User Folder" Choose Sources: Auth Source: MySql, Property Source: MySql, Membership Source: Basic, Group: Null MySQL Auth: (follow your own database schema of course) Database conn: "bosdev_odbc" Table: "login_user" Username column: "login_name" Password: "webpassword" Roles: "description" (not doing anything useful with this yet, but give it a valid field.) Edit Basic Membership: fill in site name & email, checked "member" for default role Choose Auth Type: Standard basic auth (for form login) Cache Timeout: 1800 After that ... /dev/acl_users in the ZMI yielded a list of 10 users ... and "Next 10 results" Had users in the ZMI, but the authentication didn't work yet. 5) How to make the Auth Work? What is Missing? Newbie config problem: server only responds to localhost requests

I've configured 2.6.2 on an in house server behind a shorewall firewall. Shorewall is forwarding port 8080 using a rule entry that differs only in port number from the NAT entry for traditional, port 80, requests; port 80 is being served correctly. Log entries show the 8080 packet being forwarded wget requests to localhost and the local IP address succeed; appropriate entries appear in var/log/zope.* External requests fail No entry turns up in the zope log(s). Any ideas? Thanks. Jack

Zope Version (Zope 2.6.1 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86), python 2.1.3, linux2) Python Version 2.1.3 (#1, Sep 19 2002, 13:15:46) [GCC egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)] System Platform linux2 I have searched the Zope site, emails, lab, etc and haven't found what I hoped would be a shorter solution rather than write a python script. So, here is what I want to do. I am trying to make available to my web page editors a single tag which would display one URL on the local domain and a different URL to all others. Below I have pasted in my ZSQL and Method which work fine if you supply a record number in a form or in a URL. The Method displays an Online Database Title which is hyperlinked to the online database. If you are in our domain you get the hyperlink which allows access to the database per our IP domain. If you are outside our domain you get a hyper link that allows you to login to our server and use it as a proxy, then the database will allow you access. I've tried as a tag in another page several different permutations of: <dtml-call dbtitle(47)> I've also tried REQUEST.set, dtml-let, and dtml-set . More ZClass Questions.....

How do I set specifc allowable subobjects for a ZClass? I have endusers that shold only be allowed to add certain objects to a Folderish type object, but when I subclass OFS:Folder, I get every product available as an "Add" choice -not good for easily confused endusers..... Under the "subobjects" tab, I get a multiselection, but due to the sort of the list, I cannot limit only to my choices... Any advice on how to set specific subobjects and no others? PS - I looked at OFS:Folder, but I dont see where it defines it's allowable subobjects.... TIA WPH

Creating subobjects Programmatically in a ZClass Instance

Morning everyone.... What I am trying to do today is to create subobject in a Folderish ZClass (much like OFS:Folder automagically create and acl_uer folder and an index_html), but I cannot find an example.... To illustrate, I create a ZClass folder deived instance called "FOO" Then within my new instance of "FOO" I want to create another ZClass folder derived instance called "BAR" All of this when the user creates the instance FOO Note that I am working right now and if you got a down and dirty solution, please send it here or just post to the list and I'll pick it up when I get home.... Hi All, After reading the documentation for a couple of days plus 4 hours of programming, I've been able to create a rough working version of a Lotus Domino application. The only thing I'm missing is "views": categorized listings of objects. I've searched the internet for this, but I haven't found any component or sample code, so I think it's time to create a product or extend Zope. My questions for the experts are: 1. Is there any component/code snippet that can do this? (to make sure I'm not reinventing the wheel) 2. If I were to create this, should I take the product/plug-in path or the extend Zope path? 3. Were can I find resources for the recommended approach? Thanks in advance. ZServerSLL and thrid party certs

Has anybody been able to get ZServerSLL up and running with a third party cert (Entrust in our case)? We've been able to get it to run without a cert and with a self signed cert, but not a third party cert. Any ideas? Thanks Chuck - chuckr(a)signiant.com

ZCataloging objects added by batch within a Product

Hi, I have a Product class ( OrderedFolder, PropertyManager ) which adds a zCatalog(id = 'Catalog' ) when it is created. A batch process uploads a file which contains the data to add objects of class tPatient( CatalogAware, OrderedFolder, PropertyManager ). Catalog has a fieldIndex on 'surname'. After the upload the patients appear in the Catalog but the ZSearchInterface form will not return any results. Search on null input produces all the tPatients. If I edit a tPatient instance, the search interface will then return the correct patient thru the SearchInterface form. The tPatient.editPatient method calls self.reindex_object(). Have tried deleting and creating Catalog by hand and looking at ZCatalog.py to no avail. David
