MySQLDA, Mac OSX connection problem

Hi, I'm new to zope / plone. I was wondering if someone could help me out. - I installed plone on mac osx (using the binary) and everything works great. - I then wanted to connect to an RDBMS. So I installed mysql on the same box (osx) and that works great. I gave my db root user a password and set up the permissions. - I then installed mysql-python package and that seemed to go well. - I next installed ZMySQLDA by putting it in the the zope python dir and restarted zope - The product shows up. Ican add a "Z MySQL Database Connection" object type no problem. It says the connection is open. - However when I try the "Test" tab, the resulting page always has the following error: _mysql_exceptions.InternalError Sorry, a site error occurred. Newbie alert

Ho folks, golly, I honestly hate doing this so please forgive my apparent arrogance in that my first post is a cry for help. I recently installed Plone, Zope latest releases on a Linux server in front of Apache. Nothing fancy, an almost out of the box installation. All seemed to be working fine until yesterday when everything stopped. I have shell access to the linux box and have tried the following: ./stop ./start -D which produces no errors. Yet. When I attempt to open my zope site or ZMI from within a browser, the browser appears to start loading the site and eventually stops after some considerable time. If anyone can point me in the direction of a starting point then I'd be so deeply grateful. Aside... I've worked as a database programmer for many years and realise how pathetic my problem must seem so please forgive me. Many thanks, Regards, Michael

use traversed subpath to insert REQUEST variables

Hi, you all, I have a quite large Python product which publishes (possibly multi-language) pages based on layouts which are chosen based on the user agent. Unfortunately this doesn't cache very well, and there is a lot of REQUEST fiddling during the page computation. So my idea is to put the language and layout information into the URL, e.g. www.my-site.com/en/default/home/ for the english version of the '/home' page, using the 'default' layout, and add the REQUEST variables which are set internally during traversal to the key variables used by the RAM cache manager. I reckon I need to write a __bobo_traverse__ method for my site class (in this example, rewritten to the virtual host www.my-site.com) and return the 'home' page, inserting the appropriate REQUEST variables. Is there a How-To anywhere concerning this? Thanks in advance, Tobias

Hi, please stop the tar-discussion, i was using tar (GNU tar) 1.13.18 on SuSE Linux 8.0 and the Module Splitter exists! z2 startup exception

Hello, i' ve some trouble by the migration from zope version 2.4.4 to 2.6.2. I use python 2.2 and a "Instance_Home" configuration. After Installing and compiling Zope with python2.2 it works well in the default-environment. TranslationService and charset

Hi, I use the translation_service object from a Plone Python product to get the translaltion of texts with this method... def translate(text) ts = getattr(self, 'translation_service', None) if not ts: return text translated = ts.translate('newsletter', text) if not translated: return text else: return translated It works but returns the translated text in the original charset (ascii, latin1, ...) from the MessageCatalog and not in my plone publishing charset (utf-8). I need to know the charset used in the associated MessageCatalog object to recode that translated text into the plone publishing charset. There's certainly a way to do this because Plone recodes all that comes from a MessageCatalog through a TranslationService into the Plone publishing charset, but I'm stucked hacking TranslationService and Localizer code !
