The loop is testing the contents of variable 'i' and you don't change 'i' inside it, so the loop never exits. Try using "if i..." instead of "while i..." Test your script standalone, using a python debugger like Pythonwin or IDLE, and once it works OK upload it into Zope. Gabriel Genellina Softlab SRL

When I first looked at ODBC DA's for Zope, there were some links but they all linked to commercial packages I thought. And while I certainly don't have any aversion to paying for what I get, right now I'm developing on a strict budget and an ODBC connector wasn't allocated for. It would just be a hassle at this point to PO for one, since that basically stops the development process right now. I'd also certainly like to stay with native DAs where applicable. For the time being, I'm inclined to comment out the original line in ZMySQLDA that is causing the problems (calling the attribute of server_capabilities) and setting it to zero. It's for testing for transactions, which I'm not really doing at the moment, so perhaps I can survive. If anyone has a real solution, however, please speak up! I'm curious, do most people install the python.org python 2.3, and then install/compile Zope from source on Windows platforms? I'd certainly like to go with the most tested means. I use source on FreeBSD and OpenBSD. I use precompiled for Debian and MacOS X, as well as Windows. What is the norm here? Thanks, -j -- Joseph F. Dries III

Registering people in CMF as "Guests"

I have a couple of CMF sites and really love it (reeeeeeeeally I do), but I have a new project where I need to have people be able to register as a "Guest" (different role) or as a "Member" (the role register does now). I poked around some of the scripts but I cannot seem to find anything that shows me what role they get out of the box or where to change that. Anyone done this? Probably something darn simple I am missing. Thanks, BZ

AttributeError __getitem__

Dear All, Today I have installed RedHat9.0 and zope-2.6.2b3 and copied my Data.fs file from RedHat8.0, Zope-2.6.1b1. but it is giving the following ERROR ERROR: Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: __getitem__ Location: /LACorp/Images/manage_workspace What might be the reason. In zope-2.6.2b3, Zserver also installed where as in Zope-2.6.1b1 there was a separate RPM for Zserver. Cookie Crumbler - read Password from login_form

Hello, I am using Cookie Crumbler for Authentification in Zope. The standard login_form template provides an input text field for username and password whose fieldnames must correspond to the fieldnames set in the cookie crumbler object. these fieldnames (e.g. __ac_name, __ac_password) are not found in the REQUEST when submitting the form "login_form" since they are stored in a cookie called "__ac". my question is: how can I read the password the user entered in the login_form ? Assume, my login_form contains in <form action="myExternalMethod"> instead of "<form action="logged_in"> to call an external method that reads the password from login_form. How can I do that? I tried to decode the string stored in the cookie "__ac" using base64.decodestring(<string>) and got "<username>:x034x213324" where <username> is the username in cleartext the user typed in the __ac_name text field of login_form. How can I read the password in cleartext? background of this issue is that I need to pass the password in cleartext to another application. thank you in advance -nico

Better Date processing?

I'm using Zope 2.6.1, and lots of the products I'm creating require that dates be entered in web forms and then stored as DateTime objects (since I need to compare them, etc.). However, using the <input .. name="foo:date"> results in user-unintelligible error messages when the format is not correct, and the formats accepted are not very flexible. Is there a better way? Is there a product that does a better job of handling date input/output? Similarly for newID. You can arrange that by calling each of the form elements by the same name, "oldid:list" (and similarly for newid, of course). You only need to add ":list" in case you might one time have only one, because it would be returned as a string instead of a list. Then in your method rename2, you would not use brackets to make oldid a list, because it already is one. BTW, you might as well get rid of the old syntax and write <form action="<dtml-var URL0>" It is odd to see the old !--# and the new dtml- mixed together. Cheers, Tom P

All, I have been trying to build a method around the manage_renameObjects so that I don't have to expose the users of my application to zmi.
